Great story here today, my regulars will be familiar with project lifecycle theory and some of my thoughts about it but today let's dive right in.
At just the right time of the day, 4:45 am, @friendlymoose had an issue in just the right discord (peakd) to start a series of events that led me and my development team (@thecrazygm) to develop and release this, within a few hours:
You can see an ever expanding list of tools here: https://thecrazygm.com/hivetools
What problem does this solve? Doesn't every modern app have delegation options? Yes, through a widget, not a standalone delegation webapp. As far as I know, we are now the only standalone delegation webapp currently running for HIVE.
This matters to someone!
Okay so a landing page for delegations. Currently FriendlyMoose and his TopComment project were using HiveSigner links for delegations, which as I explained to him was not ideal. HiveSigner takes "authority" and I don't like using it ever, for anything. Not that they are bad people, on the contrary they have proven to be extremely trustworthy it seems. Its a bad tech stack.
So anyway I fly into action with @thecrazygm and "we" build, that same morning, exactly what he wants.
Its nice.... but could be nicer.
What he is asking for is easy, don't get lost in the weeds on this one guys, follow me. Follow me.
I waited hard for that, 9 minutes according to the timestamp. I'm a sociologist and discord let's me do what I could never do in person.
It's not that I didn't know the answer, @enginewitty can tell a funny story; I wanted to hear him say it, the guy I just built a webapp for, using my team's development time and energy.
On the other hand I have been trying to get a Nigerian, any Nigerian really, to do some more legwork on Ecobank, a company in Nigeria. This is definitely worth $1 dollar to me, but of course I would prefer to pay with upvotes. I woke up to this message this morning:
I don't know what fair salary is for a fishing email but if "people would like" is payment for a webapp then I think its fair for legwork as well. And I am coming to realize that fair in HIVE terms gives me the sense that "you'll probably not get a lot of takers for your listing".
What are you on about?
The community backbone has been weakened. FriendlyMoose is lucky, and I built an app that does what he wants for selfish reasons.
I get to make this post. The guy who wrote the code would get way less votes.
And as they say:
There is something missing on HIVE, and in my head its related to ARCHON, what ARCHON could have been if TM had learned to use github and share the load so many years ago. A ample buffet of microservices and automation for small projects.
