Workplace: I wish I dared to say no.
There has been lot of reshuffling in my workplace, mostly due to my colleagues moving to the greener pastures but there leaving left some gaps until it can be filled externally. Actually speaking , in some of the cases it is not as simple as "X" left and now replaced by "Y" because "X" who left is well trained in the system, process and able to work independently but for "Y", "Y" need to be trained and require help initially in many things before "Y" can properly fill the shoes of the "X"

If it is just a regular colleague, then it is still manageable and team mates do help in training and sharing the knowledge with the newly join teammate, but what if, if "X" is in some mid managerial or the team lead position? Now the case becomes more difficult. Not only you have to work with your team mates but also need to check on the other extra work that "X" was performing in the organization.
I can say that, I am in totally in agreement with the youtube short, I am sharing here. It is really a "Free Labor" that you are expected to perform in the name of "taking the initiative" or "being Proactive". I understand that one needs to be Proactive, innovative and require to be little flexible but on the other if my skill do not convert on more money and cause me to more overloaded with the work then I feel it rally make no sense to perform the extra duties.
This is one of the examples that I guess happened with all of us,
This is the one of the example but I guess if you start checking on the short videos(of earor @GPlusAnimation), I guess you might like other short videos shared in the youtube and they are vet spot on.
Hope you have liked the post and will be enjoying the video shorts
