Hello music friends! ๐ถ
It's Friday and #newtunes day! Fresh music that will resonate in our ears for the weekend and beyond!
Well-known and lesser-known musicians are making themselves known, and if you have time, you can listen to their new songs. There are eight different styles of music, and if you don't like something, skip it!
Music4life!
Deradoorian - Storm In My Brain
Angel Deradoorian, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles, better known as a former member of Dirty Projectors, released last week a new solo album, Ready For Heaven.
Pure and dreamy pop songs with a touch of her eccentric artpop style dealing with the terrifying and chaotic world around us.
mclusky - not all steeplejacks
mclusky is a Cardiff trio, formed in 1995. Twenty years later, they have reawakened and released a new album, their second in a row: " The world is still here, and so are we."
A solid rhythm, slow melodic guitars, and energetic and catchy vocals are all you need to know. I recommend the whole album.
Moses Sumney & Hayley Williams - I Like It I Like It
Moise Sumney is a highly acclaimed vocalist. Together with Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, they have released a new single, "I Like It, I Like It."
It's great to hear two male and female vocals complement each other in this sensual and slow song.
MEGAOMEGA - Teddy Bear
Megaomega is a sextet from Brooklyn, New York. They used to be known as Birthday Ass, but they are now Megaomega.
They have a unique sound, ranging from rock to improvised modern New York free jazz. In the two-and-a-half-minute song, you will hear more than you expect.
POWER PANTS - Guest List
Power Pants is a band from Winchester, Virginia, USA. They have been active since 2023 and have released 3 EPs, the latest one, PP8, last week.
Energetic and synthesised 8-bit short tracks in the style of Egg Punk, which, believe it or not, is still classic garage strumming of three or even just two chords. Weird, but it works.
Billy Woods - Counterclockwise
Billy Woods is an MC from New York who has worked in music since the beginning of the century. He is better known to the music community as part of the hip-hop duo Armand Hammer, which includes Elucid.
Last week, he released his seventeenth album, Golliwog, where he reworks and reinterprets music from B-produced Hollywood horror films. It's nightmarish nostalgia.
Ghost - Umbra
Ghost is a Swedish band from Linkรถping that has been active since 2006. It's hard to define them by genre. In the beginning, they played costumed melodic metal and became known internationally, picking up a few music awards.
In their latest album, Skeleton, sixth in a row, they move away from that, more into some costume-laden pop metal, but based on Van Halen-esque guitars and Deep Purple keyboards.
Famo Mountain - My Struggle to Survive (I Refuse to Join a Music Gang)
Finally, something from Africa, specifically the kingdom of Lesotho, where a musical war rages between so-called famo music performers.
It is difficult to understand, especially to a foreigner who does not speak the Sesotho language, that music which is pure minimalism, singing with an accordion, occasionally some shouting and percussion, can cause so much ill will and fighting, in the sense that only my music is real famo music.
Famo Mountain is the project of Ian Brennan, a musical adventurer who has been recording raw, authentic sounds worldwide and has recorded this for history. Tebotho sings the lead vocal in the song. The song's name suggests he is not on either side in this musical war.
๐ถThat's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
