Hello dear Asean Hive! This is my entry for the Chef Tufo Challenge
I have decided to join the challenge but only yesterday I got the time to do it. I rushed to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients, I drove my Honda Beat Scooter in order to reach the nearest SM supermarket. I was excited to join because this is my first time to join the Asean Hive challenge. When I arrived at the supermarket, luckily all the ingredients were available. I PICK them all and line to pay to the cashier. After I paid,I went back home . When I arrived home my eldest daughter asked what is for dinner? I just wink and smiled, answering her Hmmmm; just your favorite meaty taste, crispy fried Tofu or (TOKWA).She hugged me tight and kissed me saying, Thank you Mama for you cooking my favorite Tufo. I give her my groceries and then I rest for a while before starting to do the cooking.
I started the cooking when my youngest daughter arrived at exactly 6pm.She took my hand to bless or ( Mano) asked me what i am cooking? But I don't answer her.Then she looks at what i am doing and finds out it's Tufo. Then she told me that she would help me. She rushed to change her school uniform and wear home clothes. She goes back to the kitchen and volunteers to beat the eggs,mix the flour mixture and prepare the breadcrumbs. She enjoyed it and asked me that she would do the coating of the Tufo and I said yes!. I just watched her enjoying what she did and I know she was having fun because she is humming while coating the TUFO well and counting 1,2,3 when she deeps it into the flour mixture,to the beaten eggs lastly to the breadcrumbs.
Ingredient’s:
Tufo or (Tokwa)
Eggs
Salt
Flour
Seasoning
Ground black pepper
Breadcrumbs
Oil to fry
Water to boil the Tufo
Procedure:
Removed the Tufo from the container.
Slice and cut into cubes the Tufo.
In a pot add 3 glasses of water and bring to boil.
Add the cubes Tufo then simmer it for 5-10 minutes.
Removed from the pot and put in a Colander .
Rest the Tufo to make it drain the water and cool.
In 3 separate bowls
A.) Flour mixture–add the salt,seasoning.ground black pepper and mix it well.
B) Eggs–crack the eggs and beat them well.
C) Breadcrumbs– just pour the breadcrumbs gradually to make sure all would be used and to avoid leafover.
Deep the Tufo to the flour mixture.
Deep the Tufo to the beaten eggs.
Deep the Tufo to the breadcrumbs
Make sure the Tufo is well coated.
In a pan,heat oil for frying.
Fry the breaded Tufo until golden brown.
Remove from the pan and transfer to the colander.
Drain the remaining oil.
For the GARNISH:
Wash well the tomato and the Bok Choi and cut the head to remove it.
Boil 1 glass of water in a pot.
Blanch and Scald the Bok Choi
Slice and cut the Tomato into your desired shape and style
Plate it then serve and enjoy the meaty taste of crispy fried Tufo.
I make a garnish to add color and design to my dish and all the garnish can be eaten and enjoyed together with the Tufo because I know that everything now is expensive and so I make sure that no food would be wasted.As i have always remind my daughter's that their are a lot of people who don't have food to eat so never waste food because that is blessing from God.
Best when serve hot and with Hot Sweet Chili Sauce
