Beer Tasting - Bewog Pilsner & Bergkönig Lager

in BEER2 days ago

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you? Thirsty? I haven't yet, but I will soon since I'm in action, mowing the grass in the orchard.
Perfect for 411th #beersaturday :)

As you can see, my lawnmower has two cans, one is Austrian and one Slovenian, which I'll taste after mowing.

It's quite a big orchard - only half of it - and I'm counting on a good hour and a half to mow it. I have put the cans into the cooler. Having them on the mower is not good because it shakes them quite a lot. The beer would foam up too much.

Start of mowing

What do you say, but did I do well? I finished what I had planned for today.

A few raindrops have fallen today, and heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow.
I will resume mowing on Monday or later, the other half of the orchard.

Now, finally, to the beer!

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Bewog Pilsner

Brewed by Brauhaus Bevog, Bad Radkersburg, Steiermark, Austria.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.2% ABV, IBU N/A. Pilsner-style beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

This marvelous beer is another showcase of true mastery and craftsmanship. Exquisitely refreshing bitterness, and an immaculately clean body that drinks like a dream. It's hopped with the classical traditional hops, trusted by brewmasters for decades. A premium pilsner for people who know how to appreciate true beer in its purest essence.

Oh, what a song of praise :)

The beer is yellow, with an average head that disappears quickly. It has no smell. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly. I taste a pleasant hop bitterness in my mouth, followed immediately by a malty sweetness. There are some herbs in the background.
A hint of bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for a while.

It is a drinkable and refreshing beer, a balanced Pilsner, very suitable for drinking after activities such as mowing. But it's not an overachiever.
I bought it in the Hofer store, priced at €1.79.

🍻 😎 🍻

Bergkönig Lager

Brewed by Privatbrauerei Fritz Egger, Unterradlberg, Austria, for the Hofer and Aldi retail chains
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.9% ABV, IBU 20. Lager beer.

In the background of the photo are tomato and pepper seedlings. They are still in pots; it's too cold to plant them.

What do the Master Brewers say?

A typical Austrian lager beer, mildly hopped, highly fermented with a full-bodied taste.

🍺

The beer is clear yellow. There is a lot of head, but it disappears quickly. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly. On the palate, I first taste the sweetness of the malt, maybe a hint of corn, and very little bitterness. It is watery.
In the aftertaste, it all disappears quickly.

A typical industrial lager from a large brewery, nothing special. Drinkable, suitable for drinking during and after activities like I had today. But the price is reasonable, €0.69.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to when writing this? Nothing from Fridays #newtunes.
In the evening I'm going to record a band from Spain named Capsula. I don't know nothing about band, so I'm listening to their KEXP performance.

Capsula - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)

Thank you for your attention.

Hahah! We call the clean clear light beer lawnmower beer. You have nailed it with the lagers and pislners.

It takes a good brewing line to produce a lighter beer that is nice because any any mistakes have no hops or malt or ABV to hide behind. Solid thirst beers!

I think it is. But I was reminded of this when I saw somewhere else on Reddit that someone had posted a very strong beer full of tropical flavours as a lawnmower beer. I wrote that if I had one of those, I'd mow my neighbour's garden, too :)

This is the most wonderful beer story I've come across for this week so far @seckorama. I could see a man lovingly enjoys spending the day over a simple mowing with cans of beer on hand. That's very manly and admirable. And yes, you did pretty well! Can't help but get excited to see the new and different cans to accompany you in the next grass mowing. Half of the orchard's view must be refreshingly tidier now. A good sight for the weekend!

Haha, thank you. It was the fourth round of mowing this year, and we are only halfway through May. I remembered that because the mower has a place for a drink, and a beer fits there.
Usually, I drink water at work and beer in the evening. !BEER

Hope you have a great time mowing the garden 👋

Actually, no. This year is the fourth round of mowing, usually it was the second one by mid-May. It's just taking time.

I appreciate your support!

We need some of your rain, as we had the driest spring in decades and our grass is turning brown!
Good beers but yes, you don't want them foaming up and exploding when you open the can!

it's time to raid the refrigerator

It's always time for this :)
