The existence of a country/nation solely depends on the availability of these elements which includes people, geographical zone and sovereign/legitimate government. These elements are the primary ingredient that ensures the continuity of any society. Ensuring the available of these pillars is one of the major duty of every government in order to preserve it. It is quite obnoxious when you think about the fact that one of these three elements could compromise a nations development when it's available beyond limit.
In the olding days, a nation/country strength is measured by their population which has a significant impact on their ability to protect their resources and boundaries from foreign invaders. In those days more attention was placed on security compared to this era when nations are more concerned about matters of national development and effective use of available resources.
It is no doudt that a nation's population plays an important role in its development but it is an element that most be managed. One of the crucial fact about national resources is that it is always scarce even if it is available. It is the duty of the government to ensure everyone gets a share of the available resources in a country though it can not be fully stated that the duty is performed to a satisfactory level due to issues of corruption and matters of discrimination that has plagued our society in this present Era.
Ensuring the distribution of resources among the populace of a country means the quantity that is entitled for each individual in a society to have depends on the general number of people in that specific geographical zone. Though there are other factors that dictates if an individual will be entitled to the country's resources which can come any forms. A country struggling with over population will definitely have issue ensuring their resources are in circulation as expected despite the fact that it is also considered a strength but in regard to effective distribution of national resources it might become their weakness.
Understanding How overpopulation could have effect on the overall development of a country and her economy it calls for governmental intervention to ensure it remains within the manageable level. It is no doubt that ability to procreate is a fundamental human right that is bestowed upon every human being which is deeply rooted in the holy doctrines of the Bible. Considering this fact, it might sound ridiculous when a government takes up the responsibility of ensuring this natural right is not overused or abused But then, what is the essence of procreating if the children being given birth to are not catered for?
In most developing nations it is evident that they have come up ways to ensure population control is effective to ensure the development of their society, This is mostly common in European countries and also USA. In the same vein, looking at the structure of African continent in this case of Nigeria we differ in aspect of our beliefs in the sense that we are hyper religious, hyper superstitious and The level of illiteracy is barely beyond 30% Source: punch 2023. These factors has effect on the way people perceive the formulation of birth control policy, despite the policy being active and implemented but not the way it is being practiced in other countries. In Nigeria birth control is not considered as a priority, it is more like an option. It is only few that are privileged to be educated understand the significance of this policy.
Having this in mind it is quite evident that it will take quite a number of campaign on different media platforms before Nigerians can inculcate this policy as part of our lifestyle. Despite that, A task force needs to be organised to ensure this policy is being implemented as it was stated, Though use of force will only make things worse but partnering with the health sector can make the policy more effective but then that begs the question, How many standard health facilities do we have across Nigeria especially in rural areas?
The poverty rate in Nigeria is currently high especially in this time of hyperinflation, it is wrong to attribute the cause to over population only but it does play a role in it. In this perilous times, surviving is of utmost importance. Families with less population have the highest rate of withstanding the hardship of the harsh economy which proves that despite the rate of poverty there are still some available resources citizens can still take advantage of. Birth control would also reduce rate of terrorism in Nigeria, though it might sound odd but I have noticed that majority of children without enough resources for their families to train them and put them in the right path end up roaming the streets and constituting nuisance in the society.
