Greetings to all, hope your week went well. It is time for another round of Rebellion starter cards analysis. With Untamed starter cards out of the fray and Rebellion starter cards available for selection, let's dive in and understand them better so that we better our game and also help us climb up the ladder. Today we will be looking at 3 Water card. I was also very thankful for the encouragement given to me for my previous post.
Card Review
SULTRY BARMAID
Discussion:
At 5 mana, stats wise, this may not be an impressive card. But this card possess awesome abilities which work in tandem. Why do I say in tandem, this is because Ambush and Stun brings you awesome advantage when it lands. Ambush is something new in Rebellion and an amazing ability. Imagine, when Ambush triggers and this card stuns opponent front tank or in various other ruleset when this card gains Snipe or Opportunity and hits another card in the middle of the lineup, it immediately disable that card's first turn.
Assessment:
On top of the exceptional first turn advantage due to Ambush, this card if still remain alive, has a chance to continue stunning opponent lineup. On growth, this card gains good stats for survivability. A worthy investment I would say, if able to, minimally get this card to at least level 3 to have the stun. At level 1, it will not deliver it's true potential.
PIRATE OF EIGHT
Discussion:
4 mana, another good candidate for Little League. And with it having Reach, it has to be discussed in comparison with Tide Biter. Tide Biter goes up to 3 attack max while this card goes up to 4 attack at max. Abilities wise, Pirate of Eight only have 2, which is Reach and Blast, while Tide Biter has Reach, True Strike and Reflection Shield.
Assessment:
To be honest, I personally prefer Tide Biter to this card with the lower mana cost and also abilities such as Reflection Shield which will be more useful in higher league matches with more levelled up cards. But, this card can be used in Rise of The Commons which Tide Biter cannot. However, if one is on constrained resources, this card development can be put at secondary priority. Nevertheless, still a rather decent card to have in the arsenal.
SEA DOG OF EIGHT
Discussion:
7 mana card that is suitable for tank. I would compare this with Lemell Refugee which is of the same mana cost. Very similar in stats but very different in purpose. This card will love having Kelya as summoner to give it one additional armour to give its Corrosive Ward better value. Venari Wavesmith will also add two armour to give it even better value. This card will be more suitable melee type battles while Lemell Refugee more suitable for matches that expecting more magic attackers.
Assessment:
While the card have an interesting ability, the practicality of this card I personally feel is not that much. Reason being the armour stat is on the low side. Unless the armour is boosted, will not have too much of value. While it gains additional usability when it reaches Level 4 with the Shield, I still prefer the other tanks for water splinter such as Diemonshark, Sea Monster and Lemell Refugee. I would not focus on this card at the time being until I find other purpose for it.
