¡Hola chicos! Espero que estén muy bien. El día lunes tuve una salida un poco improvisada con algunos compañeros de clases. Sucedió que habíamos planificado ir a comer arepitas con cochino, pero ellos no se pudieron organizar y por eso cancelamos la salida, sin embargo no nos íbamos a quedar vestidos y alborotados, como dicen por alli coloquialmente.
Hi guys! I hope you are doing great. On Monday I had a little impromptu outing with some classmates. It happened that we had planned to go to eat arepitas con cochino, but they could not organize and so we canceled the outing, however we were not going to stay dressed and fussing, as they say over there colloquially.
Decidimos ir a una heladería "cerca" de la universidad. La verdad íbamos a caminar en una calle que tiene varios puestos de Helado, habían Laya, Dominic,Cibao y otros, por eso pensamos que si una no estaba abierto las otras podrían estarlo. Caminamos un buen rato y no encontramos ninguna de las cedes de estas marcas abiertas en la zona de los Guaritos, cerca de la Universidad de Oriente, en Maturín.
We decided to go to an ice cream shop “near” the university. The truth is that we were going to walk on a street that has several ice cream stands, there were Laya, Dominic, Cibao and others, so we thought that if one was not open the others might be. We walked for quite a while and did not find any of the stores of these brands open in the area of Los Guaritos, near the Universidad de Oriente, in Maturin.

Caminamos probablemente 2km y perdimos el viaje porque por allí no había vida comercial para helados en la mañana. Miré la hora y era las 9 de la mañana, la cede de esa zona la iban a abrir a las 2 pm. Decidimos tomar un bus y dirigirnos hacia el centro en donde la vida comercial está activa desde temprano. Tomamos un autobus que nos llevó la la plaza de Juana la Avanzadora y justo allí podíamos ver el cartel de Helados Laya bien grande.
We walked probably 2km and lost the trip because there was no commercial life for ice cream in the morning. I looked at the time and it was 9 am, the headquarters in that area was going to open at 2 pm. We decided to take a bus and head towards downtown where the commercial life is active from early in the morning. We took a bus that took us to the Juana la Avanzadora square and right there we could see the big Helados Laya sign.
Entramos y nos organizamos para hacer nuestros pedidos. Yo quería una barquilla Soft, aprendí ese nombre hace poco; basicamente estos son helados de máquina. La vez pasada que vine me pareció una porción muy buena, la barquilla estaba rica y tenía como un pirulín que realmente era hueco, pero muy rico.
We went in and got organized to place our orders. I wanted a Soft barquilla, I learned that name recently; basically these are machine ice creams. The last time I came I thought it was a very good portion, the barquilla was tasty and had a lollipop that was really hollow, but very tasty.
Pagamos y esperamos un momento para retirar nuestro helados. Cuando llegó mi turno de ver cómo preparaban mi barquilla mi desilucioné muchísimo. No sé si el chico era nuevo, probablemente sí porque antes no lo había visto por aquí, pero me hizo una barquilla bastante feita, no me la esperaba así y me puse un poco triste, además de esto el chico me dijo que me iba a quedar debiendo el pirulin porque ya no tenían.
We paid and waited for a moment to pick up our ice cream. When it was my turn to see how they prepared my basket I was very disappointed. I don't know if the guy was new, probably yes because I hadn't seen him around here before, but he made me a pretty ugly basket, I didn't expect it that way and I was a little sad, besides this the guy told me that he was going to owe me the pirulin because they didn't have any more.
Esperé a mi novio y a mis compañeros de la uni y nos fuimos a una mesa que habíamos adecuado para sentarnos todos. Las canciones desde que llegamos al local fueron bastante buenas, eran todas canciones que tengo en una de mi play list. Todos tarareábamos las canciones mientras hablábamos y comíamos nuestro helados, incluso escuchamos cantar un poco al chico que nos atendió y yo pensé inmediatamente que las canciones las estaba poniendo él.
I waited for my boyfriend and my classmates from uni and we went to a table that we had set up for us all to sit at. The songs since we arrived at the place were pretty good, they were all songs that I have in one of my play list. We were all humming the songs as we talked and ate our ice cream, we even heard the guy who waited on us singing a little bit and I immediately thought that he was playing the songs.
En un momento todo se pusieron de acuerdo para decirle al chico que pusiera "Me rehuso" de Danny Ocean. En mi sección algunos muchachos tienen como una aplicancion que transforma en un cartel una oración que quieras hacer. Ideamos un plan y pensamos en poner nuestra solicitud en este cartel y lo comenzamos a mirar hasta que por fin se volteó a vernos y actos seguido, puso la canción. El nos hizo señas para que cantáramos y terminamos de comer con esta canción.
At one point they all agreed to tell the kid to play “I refuse” by Danny Ocean. In my section some guys have like an application that turns a sentence you want to make into a sign. We came up with a plan and thought of putting our application on this sign and started looking at it until he finally turned to look at us and then he played the song. He motioned for us to sing and we finished our meal with this song.
Seguimos caminando todos juntos hacia la parada para cada quien ir rumbo a su casita. Tomamos un mismo autobus seis personas y nos íbamos riendo y echando broma durante el camino, lo mejor de todo es que es sanamente. De verdad, que cada salida con mis compañeros me hace sentir más cómoda con ellos.
We continued walking all together to the bus stop so that everyone could go to their own little house. Six of us took the same bus and we were laughing and joking along the way, the best part of it all is that it was healthy. Truly, every outing with my classmates makes me feel more comfortable with them.
Estoy ansiosa de comenzar el próximo semestre, estaremos algunos juntos, otros separados, pero siempre quedarán los momentos que hagamos memorables... Muchas gracias por acompañarme en este post.
