Hello friends! I am very excited because I just got my new cleaning toy today! Yes, cleaning things make me excited, lol. 😄
My upright vacuum died a few months ago, and even before that happened, I was thinking I wanted to try getting a carpet sweeper instead because a) only one room in my current apartment is carpeted (WHO MAKES THESE DECISIONS, LANDLORDS?!) and b) I hate how loud vacuums are. It hurts my head. So I end up vacuuming way less often than I really should because of the noise driving me crazy.
So I checked out reviews online, and this one seemed best for my needs. There were some that were a bit cheaper, but they had less favorable reviews and/or they specifically said they were for hardwood and low pile carpet (and of course, the one carpeted room is modern shag carpet, lol). This one cost me $30 and some change. I ordered direct from Bissell through eBay.
Putting it together was pretty easy, you just screwed together all the pieces of the handle, and then screw it onto the base.
This is what the bottom looks like when you open both of the dirt compartments:
So I tested it out on that bedroom carpet! I did also test it on just a little bit of the laminate floor where there was some litter tracking to see how it performed there, too.
First of all, it was fun. I actually enjoyed doing it, which is the opposite of my vacuuming experience, so hooray! I will definitely be sweeping the bedroom more often than I ever vacuumed it. You don't have to press hard or anything to get it to work (in fact, don't do that, because I tried it and knocked part of the handle loose and had to re-screw it together at that point), you just push it across the floor. Instead of emptying it into the trash can, I emptied it onto a piece of newspaper just to show how much it collected.
Now mind you, the vacuum broke a few months ago, though I did try vacuuming that room with my little handheld Dirt Devil vacuum in that time. I know from the past when I was in-between vacuums though, that the Dirt Devil is not really meant for that and is not very effective on carpet, because when I got the new vacuum back then, it took up a whole canister full on the first pass even though the carpet looked visually clean, because the Dirt Devil just wasn't getting into the depth of the carpet, you know? So there was going to be a lot to pick up on that carpet, don't judge me, lol.
So here are the results:
Yes, Yuan helped me
That is SO MUCH HAIR. And again, the carpet didn't visibly look like it was covered in hair, so it was really brushing it all up out of there. And it also picked up litter off the laminate floor in the kitchen.
So, I give it five out of five stars, I love it. Super effective, quiet, and easy and fun to use. So if you were considering using a carpet sweeper for your home, I highly recommend the Bissell Natural Sweep. No electricity needed!
So. Much. Hair.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day! :)
