I am writing this post to test the newly developed Ecency editor. I have had a few questions, but so far I really like the way it works!
The lettuce and spinach in my planter box has grown so nicely that it is ready for picking.
We picked some to make a salad over Mothers Day weekend.
Red, orange and yellow bell peppers made a nice addition.
Some chopped up dill pickles, feta cheese and a simple dressing of lemon, garlic and olive oil and it was ready for dinner!
What variety is the red leafed plant?
With your spinach do you direct sow the seeds or transplant?
I think this one is called Super Red Romaine. It is quite tasty.
The spinach is a transplant. Seeds have been sown in the other half of the planter box and they are growing nicely.

Wow, so nice to have so big organic vegetables like that in a comfortable way to plant and pick. That's great. They have a different color than our variety here I think.
There are so many different varieties of spinach and lettuce. The planter box does protect the vegetables from deer and rabbits and does make them easy for me to reach,

Good to know. You live also in the middle of so much nature and rabbits are common. Here, we plant on the soil and just we protect basically from snails. 😉
Snails can be a problem here, too. It is a battle! Everyone wants to eat my lettuce!
Ohhhh they look tasty! I can't grow salad in my garden right now bc of the snail army but maybe I will build such a cool fence some day. Bon appétit!
I have to grow it in the planter box so that it is protected from the deer, rabbits, and woodchucks! I had a problem with snails one year. They are awful.

Yes, I have seen the green leaves that are usually used in burgers, but I have never seen the Lettuce red ones, that's why I asked Same as mother,Thank you very much ma'am for letting me know🙏❤️

Last fall, my wife planted some spinach in the greenhouse, but it did not sprout. In the spring, it surprised us - it grew very big and delicious. He had never grown so big before.
By the way, in Russia, many people believe that cucumbers are salted only in Russia.

My daughter-in-law recently found a brand of pickles in the grocery store that she says are just like the kind she grew up eating in Russia.

I would love to have a garden at home; it would be very useful when it comes to eating, but those beautiful little plants require a lot of care.
I live in a one-room apartment, I don't have a balcony or terrace, but as soon as I have one, I'll definitely take advantage of it.
A colorful salad always make a meal look more appealing.
My leaf lettuce are just a little bigger than seedlings at the moment.

Great looking salad. Once again you are ahead of me in Vermont. Our spinach and lettuce is just getting going. Did I mention I have a cold frame now? I don't think I posted about it. A neighbor upgraded theirs and we took over and fixed up the old one. Our tomatoes are in it now. Really fun to figure out and seems to be working well.
My planter box has a plexiglass top and can be used as a cold frame. We modified it with a bit of chicken wire for the top so that it can be used year round and protect the plants from critters. The sides are plexiglass all year.
If we, the people, want to live a good and healthy life, then we have to eat the same kind of healthy food, eat more vegetables so that we can stay healthy and not get fat.

That salad came out beautifully, it looks like that lettuce and spinach are coming right along!
I'm going to need to freeze some of that spinach! There is no way I can eat that many salads! Temps today go up to 90° and we have tornado watches... Spinach likes cool temperatures and won't last long in this heat.
That is true, it will wilt quickly in the heat. I hope no storms come your direction, that last thing you need is a tornado!
