Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! The day has finally arrived, we were able to open our Conclave Arcana packs and at the same time, Chaos Legion is out of Modern League. In today's post, I'll be sharing a couple of battles I have with the new Modern League. So far, I'm having trouble adjusting since I don't have that much cards yet and I only won with the Death splinter. Anyway, here are the battles.
Battle 1 - Super Sneak and Reverse Speed Ruleset
In this battle I chose the Death team. I have a gold foil Razi Clanktrap. He is a gnome Archon that gives the Close Range ability to all units. For all gnomes, he provides the Painforge ability which gives one power when damaged by Poison, Burning or hit by an ally. The rest of my team is composed of the new modern cards.
Ujurak Brave (tank)
The Ujurak Brave is a Rebellion reward card. He deals one melee damage and has a speed of two, ideal for the Reverse Speed ruleset. He has three armor and nine health for sustainability. On the abilities side, he has Immunity making him a great unit in Noxious Fumes ruleset.
Arachne Weaver (second position)
The Arachne Weaver is another Rebellion reward card. It deals two magic damage, has two speed and four health. It also has the Corrupted Healing ability.
Broken Earth Thug (third position)
The Broken Earth Thug deals two melee damage and has the Opportunity ability. A great assassin that hunts enemy low health units. It also has three speed and three health.
Dark Arborist (fourth position)
The Dark Arborist deals one magic damage, has two speed and five health. It has the Demoralize ability decreasing the attack of enemy melee units by one.
Gonach Excavator (fifth position)
Gonach Excavator is from the Conclave Arcana set. It deals three melee damage and has two speed. It also has one armor and three health. It's ability, Reckless is a disadvantage though since it deals one true damage to adjacent units. Gnomes can take advantage of this though with the Painforge ability granted by the archon, Razi.
Shadowfey Shiek (sixth position)
The Shadowfey Shiek is another Conclave Arcana card. It deals two magic damage, has two speed and five health. It can also fly and has the Life Leech ability.
The Opponent Team
My opponent chose the Fire splinter and curiously didn't use any melee unit to take advantage of the Super Sneak ruleset.
The Battle
My team somewhat showed some synergy though not as polished as my Chaos Legion team. Gonach Excavator was dealing good damage but was also hurting adjacent units because of his Reckless ability. On the other hand, the Dark Arborist was able to take advantage of the Bloodline Buff, Painforge and was increasing her power. Meanwhile, the Arachne Weaver was healing some damaged units. I was able to win without losing a single unit.
Battle 2 - Even Steven, Reverse Speed and Blood and Sunder Rulesets
In this battle, I had the Death splinter again. I had some similar units as in the first battle so I'll just mention the new units I used in this battle.
Arcane Skinwalker (second position)
Arcane Skinwalker is a promo card I acquired as a reward from buying ten Conclave Arcana packs. He deals two magic damage and has two speed. He has decent sustainability stats with four armor and five health making him a viable unit in the second position.
Silverleaf Warlock (fourth position)
Silverleaf Warlock is a Conclave Arcana card. He deals two magic damage, has three speed and four health. A decent damage dealer in the backline.
Bristleborn Brigand (fifth position)
I included this unit because it's only two mana to field in battle. It deals one ranged damage and has one speed, ideal for the Reverse Speed ruleset. Its armor of one and health of two are abysmal though so this unit will not last long and can be vulnerable against Opportunity attackers.
Chaos Battlemage (sixth position)
The Chaos Battlemage is a legendary reward cards. She is the best damage dealer in my team dealing three ranged damage. She has four speed which is somewhat a disadvantage in the ruleset. For sustainability, she has one armor and five health.
The Opponent Team
My opponent chose the Earth splinter with Rebellion cards and none from the Conclave Arcana set.
The Battle
My team in this battle is not as cohesive as in the first battle. I relied mostly on my magic damage dealers to decimate the enemy team. It's not a pretty win, but they got the job done.
Final Thoughts
My current deck is far from the level and number of cards that I desire to be competitive. I'm still finding my way to build a decent fighting team that will give me consistent wins. So far, my wins are few and far in between but it's still fun as plan to improve by keeping on playing while building my deck to my desired state. It's a fun new beginning for Splinterlands and I'm happy to be still playing this game.
