Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and it was decent this time around. I won one match and got a bunch of free wins.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 3 wins. There was 1 free win in this match because one guild didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 3,619 merits and 54.232 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 8th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. It wasn't a good brawl as we didn't place well and I didn't win many matches. There isn't much we can do about it as we have some very active opponents.
Brawl fights
There were 5 that I lost and 2 that I won. So I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I won this match because I had a stronger lineup. My summoner reduced the magic damage and I was able to kill off my opponent without any issues.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The taunt monster was too much to deal with when combined with the level advantage. There wasn't much I could do as my opponent whittled down my monsters.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. There wasn't much I could do in this match as my opponent destroyed me using those monsters and there were also healers amongst his lineup.
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. Olivia kind of hurts when it is able to target my backline and its damage was boosted due to inspire.
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. All those opportunity monsters just wiped out my backline and I missed quite a few attacks.

You can find the seventh match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. The shield monster up front was too much for me to overcome given the level disadvantage. I didn't have many cards that could do damage.
Conclusion
Doing 8 fights for 3,619 merits and 54.232 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I didn't win as many fights as I would have liked and I lost more than I won this time around. We had some active guilds this time so the amount of free wins was a lot lower than usual. My guild didn't do so great either, but there isn't much we can do about it. I hope my next brawl is a bit easier.
