Yesterday morning I happened to have a class at a community centre not far from Miyajima (the "Holy Island" with the famous red torii gate in the sea).

It was a beautiful day and so, as I had no other appointments, after the class was over I wandered down to the seafront where I was rewarded with a panoramic seascape of Hiroshima Bay.

To the east, the coastline of Hiroshima City stretched along the horizon, while a little to the west, the iconic silhouette of Miyajima rose gracefully out of the sea against the midday sun. Because the sun was directly over Miyajima it was not possible to see the red torii gate from where I was standing.

The sky and sea were beautiful shades of blue streaked with white - the clouds above and the sea spume below.

It was one of those moments where a chap could step out of the hurly-burly of everyday life and pause to take in the majesty of nature on a bright and sunny late autumn day in Japan.

If you happen to come this way, just behind where I was standing is a rather good Italian restaurant aptly called "Mario di Mare" - Mario by the sea. I didn't stop there for lunch, but I think it would be a fine thing to take one of the outdoor tables for a leisurely lunch on a slightly less breezy day than was yesterday.

Cheers!

Awesome scenery, the contrast of mountains and sea is great. I am glad you had a great day. I do wonder how these pictures can be improved. There are some camera expert tutorials to make it look even more amazing with certain tuning.

Thanks for popping by, @jza - interesting tips, but I'm happy enough with my snaps as they are! 😊

Hi @iamraincrystal - thank you for including my post in the curation. I'm lucky in that my various teaching contracts get me out of the house and heading to various different parts of Hiroshima each day. On days when I'm not out teaching, I can be a complete stop-at-home - like today!
