Chichen Itza, A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 and also since 2007 one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The city of Chichen Itza, on the Yucatan Peninsula, was built between 400-600 AD and was one of the largest cities of the mighty Mayan civilisation.
Like a lot of the Mayan cities the population of Chichen Itza vanished between the 12th and 15th centuries. some say it was due to the invading Spanish Imperialists. or the rise of more advanced and dominating city states.
Some so called modern "experts" blame the theory of global warming ( yawn, guffaw guffaw, blah blah blah).
How about the mothership called and they just retuned home?

Chichen Itza, reclaimed by Mother Earth, tucked away in the jungle, until two explorers, stumbled upon the ruins in 1841.
It is big very big, 98 ft high, the pyramid is the most outstanding structure on the site and the one most associated with Chichen Itza
A constant battle to maintain
The Pyramid is protected by law, climbing the structure was made illegal only as recently as 2008. Fines can range anywhere up to $9k.
As recently as 2023,the latest social media user fame hungry whore, identified only as Meredith chose to ignore all signage, step over the rope fence and climb to the top upon her return to terra firma she was duly and quite rightly beaten and abused by onlookers, before being escorted away by security.
El Caracol, with its unusual placement on the platform and circular shape is believed to have been an observatory with its doors and windows aligned to view astronomical events; specifically tracking the path of Venus as it makes its way across the firmament. Or maybe just maybe the mothership
During the archeological expedition and restoration of this building between 1925 and 1928, after hundreds of years hidden the interior of the temple was exposed to light and the elements resulting in the now exposed murals deteriorating
Watercolour drawings were made in an effort to preserve ancient times, (strange that these archeologists were bereft of camera equipment, call me Mr. Cynical). most of which have ended up in US museums.
Many depicted battle scenes and some even have images suggest possible contact with Viking sailors. it is amazing the distances these magnificent Scandi warriors travelled and explored
Association Football in the UK has been ruined by money, greed and the creatures of the murdoch family in particular, since the advent of sky tv. I remember the days when footballers used to kick lumps out of each other accidentally or intentionally, the referee just allowed play to go on. It was a man's game. it was thrilling to watch. Now? just a bunch of over paid namby pamby prima donnas falling over and feigning hurt.(Lionel Messi excluded).
I think we should bring back and make them play the most gruesome ball game in the history of the world
Two teams would line up and attempt to manoeuvre the ball through a stone ring. The players could only touch the ball, made of a heavy weighted rubber with their lower body.
At the end of the game, which sometimes lasted two weeks, so we were told the winning team would have the honour of being sacrificed to the gods.
Human sacrifice was on a large scale in the Mayan world, it was seen as necessary to please their gods. Reliefs at the ball court depict the decapitation of the "winning" ball players.
Back of the net
Even arriving early at 8:00am the site fills up quickly with the day trippers and selfie obsessed clutter from the all inclusive tourist resorts on the coast (over 2 million visitors a year pre scamdemic).
Then when the fruit loops turned up I knew I had lost the will to live, time to go look at the tat.
Here we are catering for the US visitors, NFL wooden masks
WTF is this all about
I bought some TAT, the magnet sits on my fridge.
And the dead head added to my collection in the conservatory. It is not TAT! These are antiques of the future.
