Hello friends.
I have seen this tiny fly in the garden on very few occasions.
Its scientific name is Microchrysa flaviventris. It belongs to the family of so-called "soldier flies" or Stratiomyidae. It is from Europe, but was introduced a few years ago to America and the rest of the world.

It measures less than 5 millimeters, its red eyes occupy almost the entire head. Both the body and the wings have iridescent colors and remain attached longitudinally.

Their larvae feed on decomposing plant material.
On the three occasions I have seen it, it has been alone, still and on a leaf or flower.
