A very productive month for me !.jpg

When I look back at past months, I can't ignore the fact that there was a serious trend when it came to my activity on hive and this trend was not positive. It was rather the contrary. Every month, I seemed to be doing a little bit less than the moth before and it's something that I wanted to turn around. With this background, I'm quite happy about my activity in February 2025...

11 posts and a lot of researching

Let's not forget that February is the shortest month of the year, so I'm quite happy to have written a total of 11 posts on Hive. This is quite above my average of 6 to 9 posts per month in 2024. I managed to create quite a lot of content mainly because I was doing active research outside of the hive ecosystem. In February, I researched Solana, Sui, Sonic, Base and Hyperliquid chains. I've discovered a lot of things and made some nice errors that were worth documenting in the form of posts.

Why researching outside of hive?

Just to make things clear, Hive is my home on the internet and it's my place to go for most of things. However, I have recently had the feeling that I was a bit caught in the hive bubble and didn't really know what was happening outside of it. So I let my curiosity free reign and I started to learn and experiment. I set a budget for it and did some risky stuff but also some other things that I plan to keep going. It was enriching and I believe that it will help me for my work on Hive as well.

My 2025 Goals

At the beginning of each month, I try to get an idea of how I'm evolving on Hive. I've set some goals that I want to achieve until the end of 2025 and I try to keep track of it to see whether I'm doing enough to reach them.

At the end of 2024, I wrote a post in which I listed my goals for 2025. By the end of 2025, I want to reach 80'000 Hive Power and 16'000 HBD. So far 62 days have past since I've set my goals, or 16.94% of the year. This means that I should have collected 16.94% of the tokens to reach my goals. I look at it like my benchmark. If I'm above the benchmark, I'm doing well. If I'm below, I'm not on track to reach my goals.

TokenStart levelTodayGoalIncrease %
HP72'02473'61180'00019.89%
HBD15'00515'07716'0007.2%

When I look at the numbers above, I think that I'm doing quite well in terms of Hive Power. I'm about 3% above benchmark which is good and I managed to do that without a power up. It's organic growth from post and curation rewards.

For HBD, it's another story altogether. In January, I was already 7.3% behind benchmark and now the gap has grown to 9.7%. I have to say here that I used my HBD interests for my experimentation on the other blockchains and that is probably the reason why I'm so far behind. I earn about 180 HBD interest per month. So if I manage to not use these interests for a couple of months, I will probably make a big jump... Let's see how things evolve...

It is always encouraging, @achim03, when we can look back and find some encouragement in progress being made. As you are honest and forthright enough to say, that does not appear to have always been the case. Experience in life would seem to suggest that is pretty much the way it goes - if we are not moving forward, we are sliding backward.

Isn't that true for all of us?

"However, I have recently had the feeling that I was a bit caught in the hive bubble and didn't really know what was happening outside of it. So I let my curiosity free reign and I started to learn and experiment."

I think this is prudent. I do not know for sure what the "hive bubble" is, but I have a pretty good idea. As I learn more about it, I know it is something I wish to avoid. I say that coming from the opposite direction you are indicating.

Sounds like a savvy investing base, for your explorations, to me. An old saying is, "it takes money to make money." Maintaining adequate reserves of liquidity is a big deal. Without them, forget about "opportunity costs" and timing. They will just pass you by, as you have no means to do anything about them!

It's something like being sure that hive has all the answers and there is no need to see what happens outside of it :-). What I realized is that things evolve very fast outside of our ecosystem and it would be a pity not to learn about it :-)

I think that we need to make sure that our money does some of the job and we don't only rely on our work and monthly income. In this way, it's also a safe bet to diversify things a bit even on a crypto level. Getting some funds into other projects doesn't seem the worst idea to me ;-)

Nice to read your posts about the explorations of other stuff outside of Hive. Always able to pick up useful information from the sharing!

I'm happy to hear this feed-back. I sometimes have the feeling that my exploration posts of outside things don't get as much interaction as posts about hive.

I researched Solana, Sui, Sonic, Base and Hyperliquid chains

Which one do you find the most interesting? Or it depends on what aspect you are interested in and they are all worth it?

I have to say that I've found some interesting aspects on all of them. I liked the defi experience on Solana and Sui. I like the vaults on Base that link plenty of chains together and then I found the probably best way to trade on a decentralised exchange on hyperliquid. Then I dived into a whole ecosystem that is booming on Sonic and again there are some things that I liked quite a lot :-). I now have some money on all of these chains and I don't feel worse about it :-)

Looks like you diversified at the right time. :)

I have no doubt you will easily hit your goals for this year again as long as you keep this up!

For the moment, I'm quite confident that I'm going into a good direction but the year is still long :-)

It was definitely a productive months for you
Thanks be to your consistency and determination

Consistency is really the key to make things evolve in the long run :-)

Very good numbers. Sometimes you have to go out and get some fresh air to see things from a new perspective.

Sometimes you have to go out and get some fresh air to see things from a new perspective.

Exactly, it helps to see things that we take for granted on hive (like no fees for transactions) in a different light :-)

You can't be as productive every month, so these special months make you happy. I also feel extra productive in some months, February was like that.

It's definitely a up and down but when things just went down months after months, I started to feel a bit worried :-). I'm happy I could counter the trend...

Good job in February! You were buzzing everywhere!!
I was happy to get some new research from you... Spared some personal time... 😃
Thanks!

I was happy to get some new research from you... Spared some personal time...

Well, I was a bit driven and sometimes maybe a bit attracted too much by the new shiny things but in hindsight, I'm quite happy with the things I've discovered. There is a lot of interesting stuff out there once we dig a bit deeper :-)

Way to go with picking away at your goals.

Nice progress. I guess that would take a bit into your HBD savings if you are using the interest. However, it does help you learn more about the other platforms outside of Hive. I think the posts you make from that experience will help offset it a bit though.
