🕺 Welcome to the Scholar and Scribe Invitational 🕺

The Invitational is our bi-weekly, super-duper, writing contest. It is where we match quills and draw blood all for the sake of the craft. We all know a 'friendly' competition never hurts anyone, much, especially when it can be used as a platform to improve your writing. 🙌

🥳 Last Invitational Winners 🥳

🥇 Gold: 2 HSBI, 300 Ecency points, 50 SCHOLAR, 3 SCRIBE
@alonicus - The Long Barrow

Professor Winter's tone was mild, full of curiosity. But everyone in the tent clustered around the small monitor screen recognised that behind the white hair and impression of eccentric scholasticism was an incredibly sharp mind. One thoroughly at home in the harsh world of university social climbing and project budgets. They knew that if he wasn't suitably impressed, the whole dig would be closed down for good.

🥈 Silver: 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points4, 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE
@jazclassic - Winter Miracle on New Pohjola

Tiffany knew she was running for her life, the beast was coming after her. Cold sweat slicked her skin, her heart hammering so hard it felt like it might burst out of her chest. Her legs ached, threatening to give out as she ran deeper into the forest.

🥉 Bronze: 100 Ecency points, 30 SCHOLAR, 1 SCRIBE
@rinconpoetico7 - The pact

The audience, some apathetic and others drunk, did not take notice of the performance. The boys left the makeshift changing room in the women's bathroom disappointed. That smelly place welcomed them to finish another dismal performance.

🏅 Runner-Up: 75 Ecency points
@fragozar01 - CHRISTMAS ON PLANET EARTH

Yenifer Cordero entered the small interrogation room with a certain nervousness, since, at 32 years of age, it was her first time in something similar. She had been trained as a police officer and by chance, a criminal investigation course she had taken some time ago just to kill her free time, had placed her in this time and place.

🤺 Prompt 🤺

THE PROMPT IS JUST A GUIDELINE. A DIRECTION. DON'T FEEL INTIMIDATED BY IT! YOU GOT THIS!

🎥 Genre: Action
🎨 Theme: Western

Howdy cowboys! I reckon it's high time we do some shootin', tootin' western stories up in here! Yes, I do! Let me see ya'll best shot at it! We have not had an outlaw story ever up in here. And this does not have to be an outlaw story per see, but catching the spirit of the western is important! Good luck cowboys!

May the odds - and your creative energy - be ever in your favor!

We'd like to give out a big shout-out and thank you to Ecency for sponsoring this contest! 🤗

A big thank you to @melinda010100 as well for the seamless communication.

Thank you ! That was definitely one of the most enjoyable ones I've done 😀

But cowboys... oh gosh, I don't think I've ever written anything Western-themed. The hard bit will be coming up with something original that doesn't just parrot one of the great spaghetti westerns, and doing it without the help of one of Morricone's incredible soundtracks.

It is interesting... but an interesting theme!

Thank you 💕. Can't wait to be part of this week prompt.

Congratulations @grocko! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)

Congratulations once again to our winners! Looking forward to the cowboy theme for the next one. It's a tough one to get right but lots of possibilities!

Thanks for the mention, friends. I really enjoyed participating in this scary initiative.

I find the new call for submissions very interesting. I've never written about cowboys before, so we'll see what comes out.

A hug!
