Codex Serafini - Pitying Them For Giving Life
Codex Serafini is a British band from Sussex, formed in 2019. They have released two albums so far, the latest, Mother, Give Your Children Sanity, last week. A new name for me. They are quite mysterious, appearing on stage in masks and cloaks. They describe themselves as "a Saturnian ritualistic group from another universe currently passing through Earth."
They experiment with psychedelic and space rock, as well as elements of progressive, jazz, noise, and avant-garde. The song "Pitying Them For Giving Life" is the first single from their latest album and embodies their style. I recommend the whole album.
Massa Nera - The Best Is Over
Massa Nera is an American band from New York, formed in 2015. In ten years, they have released several EPs and three studio albums, the latest being The Emptiness of All Things at the end of October this year. They combine post-hardcore and screamo with mathcore and noise, and their lyrics, especially on their latest album, address the environmental crisis and current green politics, with which they are very dissatisfied.
Incidentally, the latest album was commissioned by Gabriel Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music as part of the Composing Earth series, which funds works on the climate crisis...
The song The Best Is Over is a standard screamo track, talking about the end of illusions about human progress, a mixture of anger and apathy, and dancing to the rhythm of a lost future.
Turbo Trans Turisti - Kosmos
Turbo Trans Turisti is a Serbian band from Belgrade, formed in 2017. They started as Turisti (Tourists), inspired by delta blues and Bo Diddley's rhythm. Still, they soon moved on to a more radical, alternative sound with elements of electronica, guitar distortion, and improvisation. They have released three albums to date, the latest, Važan in Veliki (Important and Big), just today. The message of this album is "that we are all important and big as long as we walk upright. So don't crawl!"
Ho99o9 - Target Practice
Ho99o9, or more commonly known as Horror, is an experimental digital hardcore duo from Newark, USA. The pair have been experimenting with sound since 2012 and have released several EPs, compilations, and eight studio albums, the latest being Tomorrow We Escape, released in September this year. Their live performances are said to be cult classics, a mix of hip-hop, wild hardcore, and techno samples. Their sound is reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine, Bad Brains, and Prodigy, especially in the song "Target Practice," which comments on the social pressures individuals face from all sides and their subsequent marginalization.
Budokan Boys - The Ooze
Budokan Boys is an American duo from New Orleans, formed in 2014 for a single performance, that soon developed into a full-fledged band mixing no-wave, industrial, psychedelia, pop, and avant-garde elements, with lyrics that explore loneliness, trauma, delirium, and love through absurd and dark stories. To date, they have released five studio albums, the latest being The Ooze, released at the end of October this year.
For the past few years, they have been living and creating between Berlin and Rotterdam.
The Ooze is the title track of their latest album, a hypnotic mix of no-wave psychedelia, pulsating electronics, bleating horns, and vocals that oscillate between seriousness and parody, creating a mood of uncertainty between seriousness and complete lightheartedness. I recommend the entire album.
ABOP - Zwei Kilo Zucker
ABOP is a Croatian band from Zagreb, formed in 2010. The name is actually an acronym - After Bolji Od Partyja (After is better than party). ABOT combines elements of electronic music, big beat, and krautrock. They have released three albums so far, the latest, Masters of Afters, a week ago.
The song 'Zwei Kilo Zucker' (Two Kilos of Sugar) hints at a sweet craze or social commentary on addiction, but is open to different interpretations. Fast, almost classic techno with bass beats, synthesizers, and lively, even double drums played live. An absolute banger for dance halls, in the style of the Chemical Brothers or Kraftwerk.
ROSALÍA - Reliquia
First, I must admit this singer is new to me, but who am I? When I looked at her references, I was blown away :)
I gathered the following information from several sources:
Rosalia, now 33, has already received 11 Latin Grammys, became the first artist from Spain to be nominated for a 'real' Grammy in the Best New Artist category, won four MTV Video Music Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, and three UK Music Video Awards, had 13 number one hits in Spain, received Billboard's prestigious Rising Star Award, and had her album "Lux" named the highest-rated album of 2025 on Metacritic.
She has released four albums to date, the latest being LUX, which was recorded in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra two weeks ago. On the album, she sings in 14 languages, including Catalan and Spanish, as well as Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Mandarin, Portuguese, Sicilian, and Ukrainian.
What attracted me to it, considering that this type of music is not exactly my cup of tea? Something about the fact that it got the label "Parent Advisory - Explicit Content," apparently requested by the Vatican...
Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit (Psychedelic Electric Blues Cover)
Finally, here's an AI rendition of Jefferson Airplane's classic White Rabbit in blues style from the Badgerino Hits YouTube channel - almost 10,000 views in three days.
I don't know why I only get AI blues covers on my YouTube feed. As if there were no other genres? Or did the AI (I assume from Suno) learn most from older blues songs from the 1920s and 1930s whose licenses have expired? Who knows...
Actually, it's nothing dramatic. Yesterday, I spent the whole day painting a room and put this channel on to listen to... nothing special, just background noise... it has nothing to do with the original, except for the title...
🎶 That should be all for today, thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
