Hello, music lovers! š¶
Two months ago, I was quite busy preparing for the 60th anniversary of the MKNŽ rock club - which is quite an impressive milestone. Over the past twenty-plus years, Iāve been archiving performances by hundreds of bands across genres including punk, rock, jazz, techno, ethno, and experimental music.
When the celebration took place, I wrote a post that wasnāt directly about music but rather about other artistic activities.
Now, finally, hereās one about music. The main reason was that we were waiting for the digital content to be released on BandCamp.
A triple-vinyl LP was officially unveiled at the celebration, complete with a booklet containing information about the bands. The compilation features 34 bands from 13 countries that have performed on the club's stage between 1990 and 2023.

A couple of days ago, the content went through all the necessary BandCamp procedures and has now been officially released online.
But thatās not all! You can download it for free (name your price), which is certainly commendable - all 34 bands are approved, meaning the sound is good and authentic from the musiciansā perspective. Some of them are no longer active, while others are still active and very well known.

What does MKNŽ have to say about this?
You are invited on a turbulent voyage through still-active as well as long-gone bands, provocative and unforgettable performers, and melodious and distinct musical voices from near and far corners of the globe. This record is dedicated to all the fallen fighters who were, in one way or another, connected with us.
The 50th anniversary wasnāt just a flash in the pan either. Back then, a documentary about the club was filmed in true DIY style; itās an hour long, and Iāve actually posted it once beforeālast year, on the 59th anniversary.
