Namaste!
About 2 months ago, I showed you the newly blooming flowers of one of my bougainvillea plants which had bloomed only after the first rain of monsoon. Dark pink flowers bloomed on that plant. I also told you that I have another plant of this family on which light pink flowers bloom and that also looks very beautiful.
But till that time flowers had not bloomed on this plant but now in the last few days many new flowers have bloomed on it, And today, after so many days of rain, this plant and its flowers were glowing differently in the open sky and mild sunlight so I thought this would be the right time to show you this plant.
I have planted both these plants in 12-inch pots and currently, its height is about 3 feet, this plant needs fertilizer 2 to 3 times a year and even without any extra care, this plant grows well. Flowers bloom on it approximately every 2 months and at its peak, this plant produces flowers equal to or more than the leaves. Imagine how beautiful this plant would look when the flowers will be equal to or more than the leaves! 😍
Well, according to its age, it should have grown to a height of 8 feet by now and denser than that, but don't forget that this plant is growing in a small pot where its roots have limited space for growth and nutrition, due to which the growth of plants in pots is relatively slow and low.
And I came to know about the family of this plant only today. Actually, to find out how many more shades this plant has when I searched its name (bougainvillaea) on Google, I saw it written in the very first article of Wikipedia that it belongs to the four o'clock family.
Since this name is a bit strange but stylish, now I wanted to know why the family of these plants is known by this name. So I investigated it and found out that because the flowers of these plants do not open till late in the day, they are called the Four O'Clock Family.
Isn't that a cool reason? thus the flowers blooming at midnight should be called 12am or Midnight Blooms Family. haha!
That's all for today's blog.
