I enjoy taking pictures of flowers from plants I see around me—I'm always looking for that hidden beauty in the nature that surrounds us. Sometimes I save these images to sketch later or to use them in small artistic projects.
Hola amigos, espero que estén teniendo un muy lindo día y se sientan muy bien. Esta entrada en mi blog pertenece a una entrada para Phone Photography Contest – #69. Les compartiré algunas bellas fotos que encontré en la galería de mi teléfono y que amo. Me encanta tomar fotos de las flores de las plantas que veo a mi alrededor, siempre me gusta buscar esa belleza en la naturaleza que nos rodea; a veces guardo esas fotos para dibujarlas después o incluso para crear pequeños proyectos artísticos.
If I’m not mistaken, this flower is commonly known as Flor de Yolanda and belongs to the Turnera species. Turneras are mostly wild plants, typically showing white or yellow hues. Their leaves are thick and rough, like a kitten’s tongue. What struck me most about this plant was the size and beauty of its flowers—since the moment I saw it, my gaze was drawn to them. I love how white its petals are; they’re so bright they reflect light, and that really shows in the pictures I took. Meanwhile, the center has an incredibly intense yellow, shaded with black—a striking and vivid combination.
Si mal no recuerdo o no me equivoco esta flor es comúnmente conocida como Flor de Yolanda y pertenece a una especie de Turnera. Las turnelas son plantas que en su mayoría crecen silvestres y presentan colores blancos y amarillos. Además, sus hojas son gruesas y ásperas como la lengua de un gatito. Lo que más me llamó la atención de esta planta es lo grande y bella que son sus flores; desde que la vi, mi mirada se centró en ellas. Me gusta lo blanco que son sus pétalos: son tan blancos que reflejan la luz, y eso se nota mucho en las fotos que le tomé. En cambio, tiene un centro de un amarillo muy muy intenso, matizado con negro, una combinación sumamente vistosa y llamativa.
To me, the center of this flower resembles a beautiful sun surrounded by white petals. The plant isn’t very tall—around 50 cm—and I’ve mostly seen it growing wild, rarely in gardens. But if I had a large garden, I’d absolutely want this lovely plant there. It appears incredibly resilient, and its brightness feels like a quiet gift from nature.
Me parece como que el centro de la flor es un bello sol rodeado de pétalos blancos. La planta no es muy alta, alrededor de unos 50 cm, y la he visto sobre todo silvestre y en muy pocos jardines, pero si tuviera un jardín muy grande, sin dudas tendría esta belleza de planta, que se ve muy resistente.

As I was mentioning earlier, here’s my botanical-style illustration of this plant. I tried to capture it as accurately as possible, although a few petals escaped me—especially the serrated edges and the eyes of the flower. For this, I used Photoshop and my watercolor brush set. I'm really pleased with the result and I hope you enjoy it as well. I also think it's useful to share that Snapseed is my go-to photo editing app.
Y como les iba adelantando, les muestro mi ilustración tipo estudio de esta planta. Traté de capturarla lo más precisa posible, aunque algunos pétalos se me escaparon, sobre todo en los bordes dentados de los pétalos y los ojos. Para ese utilicé Photoshop y mi set de pinceles de acuarelas. Me gustó mucho el resultado, espero que les guste también. Creo que también es útil compartir con ustedes que Snapseed es mi aplicación de edición fotográfica.
