My garden which houses a plethora of flowers and veggies is the silent yet vivid corner of my life. It's a fleeting moment of eternity whenever I walk into this garden and spend my time in silence.
In Lao Tzu's words embracing stillness is spirituality, I could relate to that sentiment whenever I find myself wandering in my garden.
My emotional and aesthetic dimensions are deeply integrated with this garden. I am a Nature lover from the get-go, so having such an inclination is quite natural for me. To be honest, that's my default setting of happiness.
This is Ashoka flower, I am sure many of you are familiar with this plant. We have two such plants in our garden. It has religious significance as well in Hinduism. Both the flowers and the leaves are offered to Mahadev.
If modern life is complex, then the garden is the simplicity, because it offers silence and serenity. Here silence does not necessarily mean absence of sound, rather the silence itself has its own sound which is more melodious and signifies harmony.
It is the garden that offers a moment of emotional clarity and its natural space and shade truly offer that avenue to reduce stress.
When I recollect my childhood, I recall my memory and identity associated with this garden. My garden is my confidence and the rhythm of my life where I seek solace.
Lifecycles encompass bloom, decay, and rebirth. Humans can easily observe and may be quickly in some plants/crops. That's a constant reminder of tranquility, yes, life+cycles is the tranquility we should see through.
At times, the act of living is more important than searching for the meaning of living. A garden is an embodiment of an act of living. Living in silence is not a passive choice, but an active choice, because when we become silent, we let "silence" compose its music of life.
This is the "Kaner Oleander" flower. It's almost common everywhere in Odisha. There are different variants in terms of color, but this particular shade is very attractive.
Whenever I capture the shots of these flowers, it becomes a kind of dialogue between me and the garden. The sound of silence of Nature and my Garden in this case are translated into visual language.
Then comes my favorite "Kaanchan" flower(Bauhinia_acuminata), a very common flower in every household in my locality.
My act of seeing a flower becomes my act of meditation, such is my interconnectedness with my garden and my favorite flowers.
Look at the fleeting beauty of this white hibiscus, each petal that looks so beautiful is destined to fall after some time. That reminds us of Buddha's mindful moment, teaching us to live in the present. Impermanence is the truth, but impermanence is not a setback but a condition for renewal.
From a deeper perspective, these are not mere flowers; they are envoy of peace, serenity, tranquility, happiness, etc. An engagement with my garden teaches me mindful moments and helps me explore the eternal beauty of Nature where I used to get a deeper insight into life cycles.
To be continued........
Thank you.
