Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
It's getting hotter and hotter here, and summer is fast approaching. Today, it is already 30 degrees Celsius, which is too much for a date. I was outside all day, active on the green plan (I'll explain what that is later), and drank, you won't believe it, water to thirst!
I was bracing myself for today, the 413th #beersaturday in a row, lol :)
My beer fridge is rapidly emptying, which is a sign that I need to go back to the store soon. There are a few more beers in there, and today, I'm going to have one German and one Austrian can. I will be happy to share the beer experience with you.
First, the one with less alcohol.
Gösser Biostoff Lager
Brewed by Brauerei Göss, Göss, Steiermark Austria.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, IBU N/A. Lager.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Brewed with Austrian organic (raw) materials. Golden yellow with strong malt aromas. That Gösser Biostoff is brewed from the best local organic raw materials. A foretaste of a new, refreshing beer experience. And our philosophy that even a traditional brand like Gösser has to keep reinventing itself.
The beer is light yellow, with an average head that declines quickly. It has no particular odor. The first sip goes down smoothly, with the palate dominated by hop bitterness, but not too much, and hints of herbs, with no sweetness.
In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears.
The beer is drinkable and surprisingly fresh. There is a pleasant bitterness of hops and herbs throughout; I didn't taste any malt sweetness at all; I usually taste some malt sweetness in lagers.
I recall some Gösser beers from years ago, and I didn't particularly enjoy them. But this is very good for an ordinary lager and a large, industrial brewery. I must admit that I don't put much stock in the 'Bio' label, as almost everything has it nowadays, but this beer does feel very fresh. I would love to have some in the fridge, but it is not available here.
A friend brought it back from Austria and thought it was an interesting label.
I mentioned the Green Plan and that I was working on something today. That is the local term for work in the field and in the garden. I was putting up bean poles in our field, and my wife was planting beans.
Let's move on, there's still a German can waiting!
Löwenbräu Münchner Hell
Brewed by Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu-Gruppe, Munich, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.2%, IBU 19. Lager - Helles style.
What do the master Brewers say?
Brewed since 1383, Löwenbräu is still produced in Munich and is brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot (Purity Law), which dates back to 1516. It’s a refreshing yet characteristic beer, slightly dry and spicy, with a hint of malt and a delicately bitter finish.
🍺
The beer is a yellow color, with an average head that dissipates quickly. It has no smell. It goes down smoothly, and in the mouth, I first taste a slight malt sweetness, which gives way to a subtle hop bitterness, with a taste that is discreetly reminiscent of fresh bread.
In the aftertaste, everything quickly disappears.
A very drinkable and refreshing beer. The sweet and bitter flavours are very balanced, a classic Helles, without any additions. Purity law is still working.
In our country, it's available in local SPAR stores. I find it very suitable for drinking after some grass mowing :)
And what am I listening to when writing this? Something from Fridays #newtunes

A new, indeed an old troubadour on the scene.
