Beer Tasting Green Gold Hopz & Rogue Batsquatch

in BEER5 days ago (edited)

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you? I hope you haven't had a stressful week. Even if you have, a beer will be in order now for 395 #beersaturday.
Me already :)

Today, I have two similar beers, style-wise: one Slovenian can and one American can. I will be happy to empty them and share my experience.

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Green Gold Hopz Styrian Dragon Wet Hop IPA

Brewed by Green Gold Brewing, Šempeter v Savinjski dolini, Slovenia.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.0% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's an IPA-style beer that is hoppy and bitter.

What do the Master Brewers say?

As is our custom, this year, we brewed a beer with fresh local hops during the magical harvest time, when our brewery smells of hops all around. For this year's Wet Hop beer, we chose an IPA style as the base, dosed with over 75 kg of fresh Styrian Dragon hops harvested on our home farm, Rojnik Hops. The flavors of the beer include lemongrass, grapefruit, and melon.

I've tried several beers from this brewery, which is one of the best in Slovenia if you ask me.

🍺

The beer is cloudy yellow, and the head is average and creamy. It smells of hops and herbs. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and a layer of bitterness immediately takes over in the mouth, under which various aromas and flavors of herbs, grapefruit, and perhaps citrus lemongrass can be detected.
The hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for some time.

This is a delicious and refreshing beer! Interestingly, they brewed a beer with fresh Slovenian hops (Styrian Dragon). I suspect some American hops are in the mix, mainly because of the fruity notes (Slovenian hops are more herbal than not), but the result is excellent.
A true classic IPA, since it is locally sourced, it will be in my fridge!

🍻 😎 🍻

Rogue Batsquatch

Brewed by Rogue Ales, Newport, Oregon, United States.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.7% ABV, IBU 54.
It's a Hazy IPA or New England IPA (NEIPA) style beer. Hoppy, fruity, and juicy, brewed with American hops.

What do the Master Brewers say?

For years, rumors have circled that deep in the woods on Mount St. Helens lives the fabled Batsquatch. While there are many tales of Batsquatch, they are all a bit hazy on the details, which makes the truth such a juicy mystery. So what better way to honor the elusive legend than with a hazy IPA? It features bold tropical hop aromas and flavors of stonefruit, orange, and tangerine, with a fruity citrus rind finish.

🍺

First beer from this brewery. I'm curious.

The beer is cloudy yellow, and the head is average. It smells fruity. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and in the mouth, I first taste the sweetness of the fruit, especially passion fruit, mango, and pine, which quickly fades into the background, and the bitterness of the hops and lemon flavors dominate.
In the aftertaste, the fruit flavors disappear, and only the bitterness of the hops remains for a while.

The beer is drinkable and tasty. Although it has a high IBU, it is masterfully hidden under the other flavors, and there is not as much pronounced IPA bitterness as you would expect. All in all, it is a delicious beer. If I had another, I would be happy to continue, but it is not available in local shops here. I ordered it from a specialist beer shop. Maybe I will again; who knows?

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to when tasting beers and writing this? Something from my Fridays #newtunes. Swedish band with Ugandan MC.

Work + Beer! I might not like cloudy beer. I prefer the clear ones.

Cloudy beers are unfiltered, usually fresh, cans filled directly from the barrel. But of course, everyone has their taste. !BEER

Yeah, I agree. Each can have also story :) !BEER

I don't think I have tasted a fruity beer before and would love to sooner or later. I love the photographs that captures with your PC.

Most APA or NEIPA beers - the ones that use American hops- are more or less fruity. That's my thinking.

Master @seckorama, I'm curious. From 1 to 10, what score do you give to each beer.

I don't usually give ratings; for me, all the beers are primarily good :)
But if you're insisting, I'd give the first one a 7 and the second one a 6.
