Beer Tasting 🍺 Erlkönig Hell 🍺 Black Forest

in BEER2 days ago (edited)

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

What's new with you?
A lot happened here today. Are there any holidays with you, too? November 1st is a holiday here: All Saints' Day. We remember our deceased and light candles on their graves. We also prepared a pumpkin for Halloween. Not to mention HPUD in the Hive blockchain.
And now that I'm home, #beersaturday, 435 in a row.

I have two German cans today. They have been cooling all day; now I will be happy to empty them and share the experience with you.

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Erlkönig Hell

Brewed by Erl-Bräu, Geiselhöring, Bayern, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.0% ABV, IBU N/A. Lager-Helles style beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

A truly delightful beer with a smooth, easy-drinking flavor – harmonious and well-rounded in the finish. Craft-brewed with 100% Hallertau natural hops and fresh in taste, as it is neither flash-pasteurized nor pasteurized.
A special accolade is the European Beer Star 2018 Bronze award, ranking among the top three of over 100 Helles beers worldwide. Since 2024, our Erlkönig Hell, with 90 points, has also been part of the Finest Beer Selection by the Doemens Academy and Meininger Publishing.

It's nice that they mentioned the awards. I don't know the brewery, nor the beer; I got it in the Kalea Beer Box selection.

Clear yellow color, the foam is solid and disappears quickly. It smells of malt. The sip goes smoothly down the throat. In the mouth, I feel at the same time the slight sweetness of malt and the gentle bitterness of hops, which continue into the taste of fresh bread.
In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears.

Drinkable and tasty beer. Harmonious and very classic. Nothing is too much and nothing is too little. The only shame is that I only had one. I would have had another one right away if it had been available. But it wasn't :(

🍻 😎 🍻

Everywhere was crowded today, probably because of the holiday.
Even Athos wondered what was going on in the afternoon...

This is ours, actually our younger son's, pumpkin, which he carved for Halloween and used to scare passersby in front of the house.

It looks horrifying in the dark :) 🎃

Let's move on, another German beer awaits!

Black Forest

Brewed by Kraftbierwerkstatt, Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.7% ABV, IBU 16. Dark Lager or porter?

What do the Master Brewers say?

Black Forest is a coffee-brown porter or dark lager, whatever you say, that quickly reveals intense chocolate and dry cherry notes. Smooth on the palate. Perfect with Black Forest cherry cake. The name is fitting!

The beer is dark — completely black — and the foam is average, disappearing quickly. It smells of dried fruit. The sip goes smoothly, in my mouth I feel the dominant taste of prunes, the sweetness of malt, and the bitterness of hops, only as a nuance. Then a little caramel and chocolate.
In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears.

Very drinkable and tasty beer!
Balanced sweetness and bitterness are just a sample; the taste of prunes dominates me, but not so much that it's annoying. I didn't even feel the roasted malt, which is very common in dark beers. In short, excellent!
Maybe I'm changing, too? I used not to like dark beers; that burnt taste bothered me, but I've noticed they're very diverse — maybe even more so than light beers.
The bad thing is that it's hard to get it outside of Germany, because Kraftbierwerkstatt is a so-called gipsy brewery, or micro brewery, which rents larger breweries where they brew beers according to their recipes.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to when writing this and tasting beer?

I love dark beers. They are my favorites. And I have an idea and I don't know if it's wrong, but I haven't tried a bad German beer. The music is excellent as always! Perfect to end this Saturday. Greetings

Thanks. I like them better than I used to. Any brewery that cares about itself also brews dark beers. Cheers! 🍻
