Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
How is summer in your country? Is it still warm and hot? We've had a quick change, and autumn is here. Yesterday and today, it rained, and the wind has started to blow, cooling it down a lot. We have dropped from 30 to 15 degrees Celsius. No more shorts and T-shirts. Hoodies and long trousers are now the order of the day.
But that doesn't mean I'll be going beer-free on #beersaturday, 378 in a row.
I have two bottles waiting for me in the fridge, both from the islands, one from Sardinia and one from far away Japan. As I've been on some rides all day, I'll be happy to have them.
Ichnusa Anima Sarda
Brewed by Ichnusa, Assemini, Sardinia, Italy.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.7% ABV, IBU N/A
It's an International Pale Lager style beer, usually gold-colored without strong flavors, well-balanced, and highly carbonated.
What do the Master Brewers say?
It is the flagship beer of Sardinia, first brewed in 1912 and since then loved by generations of Sardinians, but also by generations of tourists who go to Sardinia to spend their vacations. Beer all day round, meaning that it can be drunk at any time of the day. Possibly in company. Bright golden color. The foam is white and fine, compact and persistent. Fairly intense bouquet, with evident cereal notes well balanced by a floral and herbaceous note dictated by the hops. Balanced beer on the palate, with initial cereal and honey notes, which are followed by a very clean and well-defined pleasant bitter sensation.
🍺
The beer is yellow-golden. The head is average and disappears quickly. It has no odor. A sip goes down the throat soon. I taste sweetness and bitterness in equal measure in my mouth; later, the sweetness takes over a little more. There is a faint aroma of hay and cereals.
There is a slight hop bitterness in the aftertaste, but everything else disappears.
The beer is drinkable, a standard lager that doesn't deviate from the average and lacks nothing. And that's all. Nothing special.
However, it is standard in Sardinia, which I've never been to, but a friend who brought it back from his holiday there assured me that. Sometimes, we get it in local shops, but not always.
Let's move forward!
Asahi Super Dry
Brewed by Asahi Group Holdings, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.0% ABV, IBU 20.
It's an International Pale Lager style beer, like the previous one.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Asahi Super Dry was a direct result of extensive market research which indicated a consumer preference for a more palatable beer with less maltiness, relatively high alcohol content and a light aftertaste, that paired well with the changing Japanese diet. Our advanced brewing techniques deliver a dry, crisp taste and quick clean finish. We call it Karakuchi taste.
🍺
The beer is golden yellow in color. There is a lot of head, but it disappears quickly. It has no particular odor. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly. In the mouth, I taste a very neutral sweetness and bitterness at the same time, a faint taste of hay and cereals.
In the aftertaste, it all disappears quickly.
The beer is drinkable but very neutral, balanced without solid flavors and aromas. I don't find it anything special; it's more industrial than not. In our country, it's available in local shops, especially during Eastern or Japanese cuisine weeks, when this beer appears alongside Japanese noodles, wasabi, and seaweed for sushi.
It's nice to taste, but there's no space for it in my fridge :)
And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from my yesterday's #newtunes post. Syd Barrett, nostalgia by new British one-man-band artist
