When we consider that our life is frail: that we are like the grass that is here in the morning and is dried up in the evening, we realize that the life that we live is a borrowed life. It is a life that there nothing to be proud of. It is a life which we should wisely depend on the one who gives us the life. God owns our life and he decides what our fate will be as we are rising up every day. We can have the power of choice but we do not have the power of deciding when we would die.
Death gives us a signal about two important appointment which we we keep. These are the two most important issues that man should consider. We have an appointment with death and we also have an appointment with judgement.
We are going to one inevitable end in life. That end is that of death. We do not know when we will meet our death but we sure cannot escape the appointment with death. We could live a thousand years on earth or one could a days after birth. The sure bet is that it is appointed unto man to die once.
Another very important appointment is that after death, we shall face the judgement. We shall be judged by the one who gave us life. We shall account for all that we have done with the life He gave us. If our works are right in His sight, we shall be in his kingdom. But if our works are evil we shall end in hell fire. This is enough reason to surrender ourselves to obey the commandments of God.
