Sometimes, local foods are considered healthy, savory and flavourful,
Example is these savory breadfruit paired with yellow corn.
Ukwa (breadfruit) can be prepared in so many amazing ways and one of those ways is pairing it with sweet yellow corn (a perfect combination),
I love eating ukwa dish without the addition of any ingredients including salt but pairing with sweet yellow corn has given me another great taste that i would always love to make for my family.
Let me show you how i made my savory ukwa dish paired with yellow corn 🌽
- 1 and half cup of ukwa (either half cooked or uncooked breadfruit)
- 1 cup of yellow corn
- 1/2 cup of red oil
- a handful of red fresh pepper
- mixed spice
- salt to taste
- enough water for cooking
I used half cooked ukwa (African breadfruit) but there are dried ones at the market,
I poured tge half cooked ukwa into a pot of water and allowed it to boil
Step 2 👉 my yellow corn was also half cooked, i only had to add it to my boiling ukwa .
Step 3 👉 i cut my onions and pound both my fresh pepper and mixed spice and set it aside .
Step4 👉 while my ukwa and yellow corn was busy boiling, i added my onions, red fresh pepper and pounded mixed spice and allowed it to continue boiling,
Also add salt.

Step 5 👉 lastly i added my red oil and stir using my ladle.
After some minutes, my savory breadfruit and yellow corn become ready a d it was time to serve.
Normally African breadfruit has a natural creamy taste but the addition of sweet yellow corn brought out another great taste that is worth trying .
I hope you love my recipe
Thanks for reading till the end.
