Hello Hello Hivians
It's Thursday and the weather has been fluffing gorgeous in this part of Fife on the East coast of Scotland.
Today though, we are going more central and north to Perth.
Today we are in Perth, Scotland's seventh largest city by population. Although there are some towns that are bigger but they are not cities so tough fluffing luck!
But it does have the River Tay which you are seeing...
The length of the river Tay is 120 miles or for you funny people 193 km.
It is the longest river in Scotland!
Now remember I said the number 7 about population...
Well, 7 ... it is the seventh-longest river in Great Britain.
It turns into being a fluffing wide river and the average discharge is approx 170 to 220 cubic metres per second. Which is a fair amount of water! Imaging trying to size a pipe to carry that!! I fluffing think not!!
So the fluffing big river Tay has the largest volume of water discharged into the sea of any river in the United Kingdom.
But my favourite fact about the river Tay is to do with salmon...
It is internationally renowned and one of the best salmon rivers in Western Europe.
It even holds the The British record for the largest rod-caught salmon, 64 fluffing pounds! This was set on the Tay in 1922.
It was caught by a lady, Miss Georgina Ballantine from her father's boat. He was a ghillie, so you might say she had some inside knowledge. Never the less the fish fought for two hours and was almost half her weight and with a length of 54 inches / 140 cm it will have been some sight. It was dusk when this was happening.
To think that was 103 years ago!
She was also a nurse, a wonderful lady!
But now, decisions, decisions, decisions!
Yes it's that time for me to choose my entry picture!
So here 👇👇👇 is my entry for Reflection Hunters Contest - Round 241
Banks of the river Tay reflections
This was a tricky choice.
I am going with this shot as it has a bit of everything. We see some the whole blocks of flats with reflections in the water as well as some fluffing big trees behind them and longer than them reflections in the water!
I never know which picture to choose as the entry, and I do try to make a story with my posts rather than just a post and a run kind of thing!!
What do you think? Did I pick the suitable one, or would you have chosen another one?
This is my contribution to Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 241🎺 Announcement 🎺! from @olgavita and the simply superb Shadow Hunters community.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
