Good morning, Daily Blog community. This is my first post in this community. Yesterday, I was exploring it and found it very beautiful and entertaining because of all the amazing things people share here.
I’ll start by telling you a little about myself: My name is Iris, and I live in Havana, Cuba. I work for a telecommunications company, where things are going very well for me, and every day I learn something new about my job.
Today, I woke up feeling energetic and ready to go back to work because I had been on vacation and taking a break from everyday life. Sometimes we truly need those moments to recharge because they are honestly necessary.
I usually wake up very early so I have enough time to get things done, get ready quickly, and arrive at work on time. My workplace is close to home, but that doesn’t matter haha. Sometimes we get distracted, and time flies before we realize it. I also prepared my lunch because I leave work in the afternoon, and I always need to bring something to eat so I won’t get hungry.
When I arrived at work, I saw all my friends and greeted each one of them. I really missed seeing them because spending time with them makes work more enjoyable and helps clear my mind. Even though work doesn’t leave much time for chatting, during little free moments we always gossip a little haha.
Coffee is something that can never be missing from my workday because without it, I’m nobody! What Cuban woman doesn’t love coffee? It’s something that runs through our Cuban blood. Honestly, it gives me so much energy, and at work, that energy is truly needed.
Then I started helping my clients, who told me they missed me, and honestly, I missed them too. Over time, I’ve built trust and a good relationship with them through the care and attention I provide, and they feel happy with the service I give. That is very important to me because it defines me as a good worker.
Now, let me talk about the difficult part. Life in Cuba is not easy right now. We are going through a major energy crisis, and it affects every workplace in the country. Many times, the electricity goes out at work, and whatever I was doing on the computer gets interrupted, forcing me to start all over again. It can be frustrating and honestly quite stressful.
When I get home, those long blackouts also make it difficult to cook, wash clothes, and do household chores. On top of that, it’s summer, so the heat and mosquitoes become unbearable when trying to sleep. Without a fan, those nights feel endless.
But anyway, I got a little off-topic haha. I truly love my job as a telecommunications operator. I also have other jobs that help me earn extra income to get by, but I’ll save that story for another post where I continue sharing my daily life with you all.

Buenos días a la comunidad de Daily Blog. Es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad. Ayer la veía y me pareció muy bonita y entretenida todas las cosas que publicaban aquí.
Empezaré contándoles quién soy: Me llamo Iris y vivo en Cuba, La Habana. Trabajo en una empresa de telecomunicaciones dónde aquí me va muy bien y todos los días aprendo más del trabajo.
Hoy me levanté enérgica para ir a trabajar ya que estaba de vacaciones y estaba refrescando de la vida. Hay veces que uno tiene que darse esos descansos porque literal hacen falta.
Cuando me levanto me despierto bien temprano para que me dé tiempo a hacer las cosas y prepararme rápido y a tiempo para no llegar tarde al trabajo. Lo tengo cerca pero no importa jjj. Hay muchas veces que uno se entretiene y se le hace tarde. Me hice el almuerzo porque como salgo en la tarde tengo que llevar mis cositas para no pasar hambre.
Llegando al trabajo vi a todas mis amigas y las saludé a cada una. De verdad extrañaba verlas porque con ellas uno se entretiene mucho y despeja. Aunque el trabajo no te da mucho tiempo a eso pero en sus momenticos de tiempo libre uno chismea jj.
En el trabajo no puede faltar mi café que tanto me hace falta poque sin él no soy nadie. ¿A qué cubana no lo gusta el café? Es algo que tenemos en la sangre cubana. La verdad que me da mucha energía que en el trabajo hace mucha falta de veras.
Luego empecé a ver a mis clientes que tanto me extrañaban y yo a ellos por el tiempo de relación y confianza que les he dado a ellos que ya se sienten complacidos con la buena atención que les doy. Es muy importante eso para mi porque es lo que me define como una buena trabajadora.
Ahora voy a lo malo: En estos momentos la vida en Cuba no es la mejor, estamos pasando por una gran crisis energética y eso afecta todos los empleos de Cuba y muchas veces se va la luz en la empresa y trabajo que estaba haciendo en la computadora se queda a medias y tengo que empezar de 0. Es un poco molesto y da un poco de estrés esta situación la verdad que sí.
Añado que cuando llego a la casa esos apagones intensos no me dejan cocinar, lavar y hacer las labores de la casa además que es verano y el calor y los mosquitos son insoportables para `poder dormir. Sin ventilador en esas madrugadas son infernales.
Pero bueno que me fui del tema jj. Mi trabajo como operadora de telecomunicaciones me encanta, tengo otros más trabajos que me dan otro extra para resolver pero eso será en otro post donde siga hablándoles de mi día a día.
