Kirkcaldy autumn seafront stroll

in Wednesday Walk3 days ago

Hello Hello Hivians

It's Wednesday and here in Scotland the Autumn is well and truly here! I was working from home today and started at 6. So by 10.30am I reckoned that I deserved a walk and a break as that was 4 and a half hours work which is half a day. My 18 hour days are a thing of a past and I most definitely have graduated to the don't give a fluff attitude of working.

image.png

Today though we are practising what #wednesdaywalk is all about!

Look at what is around you!

The lunatics have taken over the asylum

I decided that I would take the long way round to get to the grocery store. It is smoothie making day today, so I needed a couple of bags of spinach and a couple of bunches of bananas. In addition I wanted to pick up some mince to make a kick ass piping hot chilli 🌶 for tomorrow night.

Instead of going left and down the hill I went right and up the hill to a street I have not been to for a while....

image.png

4 years no smoking!

Last month saw me completing 4 years with a cigarette. I went cold turkey after many decades of smoking. I was on a pack a day at boarding school so it was a long time.

I also gave up drinking for a year before as there was no way if I am drunk that I could not smoke lol.

image.png

As a result, I had not been down this street for a while. It leads to the shop where I got my tobacco, which as explained is not needed now!

image.png

This primary school has been left to rot for a few years. The gates make for some nice shadows...

No School Children Allowed In These Premises

Quite fluffing right!

Being the curmudgeon that I can be, I would have that sign all over the place, in fact anywhere was I was going to be!

image.png

Some bairn or lassie has lost their bag. Oops I better not judge the sex or gender of the lost bag owner!

One good thing here, is that quite often, people will pick up lost stuff and hand it from a railing or something.

image.png

Pigeon City

Most of the windows have been knocked out and boarded up, but Percy and his mates have taken up residence. I don't blame them, it has to be drier and warmer in there during the winter!

image.png

The end of the road sees this wee alley which leads towards the sea..

image.png

I have always thought it would make for a cool monochrome shot with the overhanging trees and cobbles... A bit spooky in the dark too!

image.png

Pup on a mission

I was greeted by this pup on a mission when I came out of the alley. I let him lead to the next alley.

Having had big dogs all my life, like Shepherds and Malamutes, I tend to think of all dogs no matter their size!

image.png

Who the fluff is HEGGIE

I have no idea but this is their Wynd or Lane.

image.png

It is a fun wee street...

image.png

... that takes to the sea.

image.png

This part of the promenade is where the car park is and we get these wee RV things...

Did you used to ride donkeys on the beach as a kid?

I know I did...

image.png

But they were real, not a dead one like this one!

image.png

The tide was out and you can see some of the gorgeous clouds that you get at this time of year.

Cloud drama!

image.png

What were these fluffers looking for?

image.png

We were not amused

I love how detailed his wee feet came out!

image.png

He was looking at these two pups. The one on the right was misbehaving and was in trouble, see how his head is bent and ears aren't up and alert like the pup on the left?

image.png

The Kids paddling pool!

This is the reservoir that forms from the Teal burn before it flows into the sea.

Yes I call it the pool for the kids... can your guess why?

image.png

Noisdy fluffing kids!

Of the seagull variety. Whenever you see them with this sort of mottle ran colour you know they are just fleglings and love to hang out together like so many kids seem to do!

image.png

image.png

Right shop time before it rains. I see the sign for Gym 64 across the road. My gym is further away but it has a pool and sauna and so much more.

image.png

I think Mr Nag the donkey is facing the wrong direction, surely the chequered squares denote the start or end of the race track?

image.png

Bye Bye to the sea and Teal Burn, this is the part that flows into the Kids Pool!

image.png

Shop Ahead!

image.png

I made it back home all in one piece and got a deal on the bananas too!

This post is for #wednesdaywalk which was inspired by @tattoodjay

Thanks for visiting and I hope you managed to get out for a walk this week.

Congratulations on your fourth year, No Smoke. The road to the sea is definitely spooky, even from the school. The kids with wings enjoyed their swim.

Salamat Aiza 🍾
Ah yes the kids with wings love hanging out down there. I just saw your Cebu safari park post and the cool bird show!

You're welcome! Hehe

😎

See a lot of things while walking. Hehehe. Hmmm, you quit drinking before? How come you're back to it again😛😌😌

You know me, I see loads of things and take even more pictures. I had to stop drinking to stop smoking. But I don't drink much now, probably an average of 2 beers a week over a whole year. That includes holidays lol

It's great to hear that you quit smoking! I've never smoked in my life, but there was a time when I was a passive smoker: my classmates and professors at university smoked a lot. So much so that they found nicotine in my lungs. The trip was enjoyable and eventful. Sending you a hug.

When I first worked in Spain many years everyone smoked. In the grocery store in the bank, it was everywhere so yeah people were passive smokers. I even remember smoking on the planes back then too lol!
I hope all that nicotine left your lungs. Hugs.

Well done on the 4 years, I think I am aff then now for about 8!

I'm going east next week, up Anstruther then Crail!

8 is pretty cool too!
Ah venturing up to the East Neuk, have fun and bring some warm weather with you!

It's coming, I'm sure of it 😃😃

Hehe we shall see 🤣

What a nice walk with some great scenery and a few birds and dogs too! Congrats on being tobacco and booze free for so many years, not an easy feat! Such a shame they left the old children's school to rot away, it's such a nice looking old building that deserves to be taken care of in my eyes. But, that probably costs money, so finding someone to pay for it is probably wherein lies the problem! It is funny to have a sign saying absolutely no children allowed!

Nice pool with all the seagulls, walking by the water is always fun. Looks like it was a nice day for a walk!

I still have a beer every so often, but it is great not waking up and light a fag or cigarette lol!
Money money and then we have listed building status which is great but means to do something it takes money to convert into something in keeping with the history. So you often find people hire kids to start fires. Once a building is destroyed there is no listed building status protection.

Yeah fresh is nice any day I think. Likewise if you dress for the weather you can get out most days hehe!

Have a great weekend

Tobacco is an expensive habit, that's for sure! I still enjoy bourbon or Scotch, but very limited amounts. I now even measure them out to help keep track of the calories! I'm definitely not a young buck anymore! lol

I now even measure them out to help keep track of the calories!

Wow! That got me chuckling. I have heard of rationing your drink, but not for calorie counting 🤣😎 Sorry I shouldn't laugh. I probably drink an average of 1 beer a week over the course of a year. So it is not much really. Yep young buck days are long gone🤣🤣🤣

Congratulations you have been manual curated and upvoted by @ecency

Cheers Mick

Looks like a lovely walk. Congrats on quitting smoking, I have heard that is no small feat!

Yeah was a good dose of fresh air before I went back to the computer. Yeah the smoking was not easy over the years I figured out the only way would be to go cold turkey. So I went for it, had two months of hell and now I think it is all plain sailing so to speak!

Thank you so much, yes the time was right. The walk was fun and good to put some pictures down here for prosperity.
