Good day ,
Today a post with something else then "normal" Photography from me
The new toy i got today is a Shelly Wall Display , a smart home control panel .
Since they opend the possability to use it with Home Assistant i got intrested and orderd one last Saturday.
A new addon for my home automation or as some call it Domotica.
For my home automation i use the software called Home Assistant.
I use it to control my lights , keep track of my energy consumption , to control my covers , and keep track of temperture and humidity in the house.
and also CO2
screenshot of last months energy , it gives you a nice insight on what equipment is using the most power .
But it also keeps track of al my servers in my house there are many things you can do with it and automate , for instance each morning 2 hours after sunrise my sun screenings will be lowerd to keep the house cool .
Questions you might ask :
Do you need it ? Maybe not today but we ain't getting any younger so better to be ready .
It's like drinking beer you don't need to you can also drink water .
The package .. yes we love smart toys
opening up ..i always open the bottom of the box so i don't need to worry about packing materials .
there it is
yeah another box in a box
ahh there is the display
Connecting it to 220v and we can start.
Typical with all devices , always update first 😂
first update downloaded , oh you want to use it with homeassistant , here is another download for you ..
time to install Home Assistant on it .
Time to install it on the wall , then i needed to create a dashboard with the things i wanted to see on the display for now.
The menu for the sun screens / covers in case of bad weather easy to raise them again if needed.
Weather forecast just for fun
Light control menu, brightness and colour control , if you wanted too you could change the brightness based on the measured Lux in the room.
all temperature sensors in the house at the moment no worry that 40 degrees is a server CPU 😉 , and no we don't have an airconditioner in the house.
And finally the standard shelly menu , and it als functions as a normal light switch ;)
Is it difficult to use Home Assistant ?
Well setting it up does require some knowledge , but using it on your phone or on this display can be userfriendly if setup properly .
Yes i could make everything even voice controlled in the current setup without the use of Google , Siri or Alexia and keep everything local .
I even have some security cams integrated it's just fun to play with , i know other people like to watch sports instead.
So if you have suggestion or questions about domotica or Home Assitant let me know ion the comments below.
