Hello Everyone
Welcome to my blog.
It's week 4 of Hive Garden weekly inspired prompt.
For the QOTW, I will be writing on the second question.
"Do you have chickens or rabbits? How do they contribute to your garden?
I have already shared a story of how I grew up in a family that loves gardening.
We also have a small poultry house where we rear chickens as well.
[These are photos of the agric chickens]
Most of them are the ones we call "agric chickens." we feed these ones daily and clean their house as well.
We care for them more ensuring their way being, they grow fast and also depend on our care.
[These are photos of the local chickens moving freely]
The other set of chickens we have are the "local chickens" that we leave to run around the house and outside the house but within the environment, and they cater for themselves.
Though we give them feeds randomly, not regulated like the agric chickens.
These local chickens also have their own house that we normally clean daily too because they sleep there and poop a lot.
They are so intentional in their ways.
They find a specific cool place to sleep and won't like to sleep elsewhere, except you force them.
So,it is much easier to clean their place of rest.
But during the day, it is stressful.
Because you will be walking around to sweep the scattered poop, they poop as they walk around without any control.
How do these chickens contribute to our garden?
Despite the fact that we eat these chickens or sell them when they are grown or becoming too much around the house.
They play an important role in us growing healthier and greenish vegetables and crops.
Because whenever we clean and sweep their poop, we gather it in a bag and keep it until after planting our crops.
[The poop mixed with sand to reduce the smell and to be able to sweep it without it sticking somewhere]
Then we use their poop as manure in our garden, which saves us the cost of buying artificial fertilisers and the fear of applying the wrong fertiliser to our crops.
The only problem we have is the smell of their poop both in their houses and when we apply it in the garden.
It would smell for a while, especially in the garden, before it stops, and the next thing is us seeing our plants blossoming.
Thank you very much for stopping by my entry post.
Do enjoy the rest of your day.
