Old School Runescape - My hobby at night

in Hive Gaming7 days ago

I was thinking about what to write today as I wanted to switch things up, and then Old School Runescape came to mind. I first played Runescape back when I was still in elementary school. I remember the days when I would go to the library just to play the game until my parents bought a PC for my brother and me at home. Sometimes I would sneak out in the middle of the night to play the game. This game came to my mind because they just released a new skill, Sailing, in the game and you can read more about it here. I won't go into too much detail about the new skill as I haven't had time to go through it, but I thought I would just show off my account. I have been playing this game on and off

Runescape

Runescape is an MMORPG, and it's one of the oldest ones out there. As a kid, people were always fighting over Runescape or World of Warcraft, being their MMOs. For me, it was Runescape because my parents wouldn't pay for it. In the end, I managed to find a way to get membership using in-game gold, even if it wasn't something that was supported by the rules. In any case, there are three iterations of Runescape: Classic, Old School, and Runescape 3. If you played the game during the first few years, it was classic. Then it was Old School Runescape until the Evolution of Combat, where a ton of people quit.

In 2013, when people were getting tired of Runescape 3, Jagex decided to release a version of the game back in 2007 that they had found. This was the beginning of Old School Runescape, and it was the Runescape I knew as a kid. Hell, even I didn't know that it was running on a tick system (100 ticks per minute) back then. I didn't play right away, but I did start playing a few years down the line. It's been an on-and-off game for me because I haven't even maxed yet. I would say that I did pretty well to have 2,083 skill total.

My account

Here is my current account, and I think I have done quite well. I have a few 99s, but the rest is base 75 if you ignore the level 1 Sailing (it came out today). I am wearing full crystal with a bowfa, and I have my fox pet next to me. I don't have many pets, as I only have 2 other than my fox: Tangeroot (Farming) and Little Creator (Soul Wars).

Here is my character summary. I don't have too much done, and there are still some quests that I have yet to do. Before Sailing came out, I had Desert Treasure II and Night at a Theatre left. I finished the rest of the quests, and only Desert Treasure II was my last grandmaster quest left. I did fight the bosses in that quest during the temporary game modes, such as Gridmaster or Leagues. So I understand the mechanics to an extent, but I never got around to it. It's kind of crazy to know that I have had over 174 days' worth of time logged in, even if a lot of it was afk. I preferred going for the longer but less attention-seeking methods of leveling my skills. I haven't focused too much on my achievement dairies either, as I have been refusing to do Barbarian Assault to get things moving along.

My bank is a huge mess as I don't organize it much, but my total net worth is about 1.81 billion GP. I wouldn't say that I am doing bad because I do have some decent gear, such as crystal, bandos, virtus, and others. I just have a lot of loot that I did not liquidate, such as my herbs from farm runs. I don't have BIS gear, but I have decent enough gear to go for end-game bosses or raids (if I want to spend the time to learn them).

I upkeep my membership by flipping items through the Grand Exchange. You can buy bonds there for membership, and I generally earn more than what I spend on bonds with some extra that I can spend on gear. Just in the past month, I made over 39 million GP by setting orders overnight, and selling them in the afternoon/night.

Conclusion

Runescape is a thing that I do on the side. I don't do all the sweaty stuff, and I wouldn't say that I am the best at the game. However, it's a part of my childhood, and I am glad to see it around. When I feel like it, I can play and have fun at it. However, it tends to be more of an afk thing for me, as I prefer being less sweaty. It's too bad that I didn't max before the new sailing skill came out, but I probably won't touch Sailing much until Tears of Guthix gives me xp there. I just don't think I want to go through the early level grinds, and I prefer for prices to go back down before I spend any GP there to level it up. I do hope to get the Max Cape, Inferno Cape, and Quiver one day. I have only done so in temporary game modes so far.

Have you heard about this game? Do you play Old School Runescape?

Games that are part of our childhood will always have a place in our hearts, for how much they might look old and such, we will always love them

Yea. The old games always have a place in our hearts due to the memories we had there.

I’ve seen this game after a very long time, and looking at it brought back many old memories. It was a really good game, and I used to barely manage to win it.

It's a good game. A bit grindy as everything there seems to be a grind, but I like that I can come back after a break and not lose any progress.

Do runescape allows selling stuff to peer to peer?

If you don't want to risk bans, you can try the Grand Exchange, which lets you sell items for GP. Trading with others still works. However, RWT is a bannable offense, and they have been cracking down on it. So trying to go for actual money wouldn't work.
