Hello, everyone! π· π
I usually look at unboxing posts about various electronic gadgets.
Today, I decided to post one of my unboxings, but it's about something else.
What is the GE-LC 18/25?
It's a battery-powered electric chainsaw from Einhell.
Once before, about 5 years ago, I had (still have, actually) a corded electric chainsaw, but it was very clumsy. I had to keep an eye on the cord and didn't use it much. Now, I decided to get a battery-powered one to be more mobile.
First, electric saws are not comparable to petrol saws. They are not powerful enough and cannot saw thicker tree trunks, only some branches.
That is why I bought one: to cut and break the branches of the bushes next to my field.
What's inside the box?
Chainsaw, instruction manual, chain, chain guard, saw blade, and chain clamp, which is also a screw. Not much.
The instructions are in several languages, but only one assembly picture.
This is still quite important. Sometimes, I just opened the boxes and assembled something (whatever it was). Then there were problems. I didn't assemble well because I didn't read the instructions.
Always RTFM! (Read The F*cking Manual π)
I'm ready for assembly. I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
First, I open the chainsaw and remove the chain and sword cover.
Then I put the chain on the sword.
Now, it takes a bit of skill. The chain and sword must be placed correctly on the saw, tensioned, and turned with the clamping screw (silver).
Finally, I put the chain cover back on. And done.
That should do it.
Actually, it's not finished. :)
I have to put oil in the chain and hook up the battery.
Now the electric saw is really ready.
Let's take action!
I was pretty pleased. I know it can't compare with a petrol chainsaw, but I saw for an hour without changing the battery. The petrol saw is more powerful, but you have to refuel and refill the oil at least twice for an hour of work. Or even more.
Yes, I bought this electric saw without a battery for β¬ 119. Is it expensive or cheap? What do I know?
It's cheaper in Germany, but I must order and wait. I looked for it in the shop and was working with it the same day.
Why Einhell?
That's a good question but a straightforward answer. We are in 2025, but the batteries and chargers for different brands' devices are still incompatible.
The decision was clear since I have an Einhell electric hand mower and digger, two Li-ion 4.0Ah/18V batteries, and a charger. Two batteries are enough for now because I don't use them in one day.
