Hello, music lovers! 🎵
On #threetunestuesday, I reflect on the music I listened to growing up and the music I had access to. And when something reminds me of moments from my youth, I try to relive those memories through music.
Today's selection is a little different. A few days ago, I came across a band called The Big Push, which is best known for its covers of old hits.
Since everything I listened to was superbly played, I decided to share the musical experience with you.
Enjoy the music as I!

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are the tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the gist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to, and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.
The Big Push is an English band from Brighton, formed in 2017. They began performing on the streets and quickly went viral due to their energetic covers and mashups. Among the members, I would like to mention Ren, who also performs solo.
To date, they have released two EPs: their debut, Can Do Will Do, featuring original songs, and Busking Sessions in 2023, a collection of street recordings.
They split up in 2022 but have reunited and are performing across the UK this year. Their music blends rock, pop, reggae, and soul/funk influences.
Their energy and melodic appeal in live street performances are highly contagious.
Here are some of their covers and mashups that I really like.
The Big Push - Personal Jesus
The song Personal Jesus is a cover of Depeche Mode's 1989 track from the album Violator. Raw, energetic, with reggae and rock influences, straight from the streets. At times, I even find it better than Johnny Cash's cover.
The Big Push - War Pigs / Paranoid
The song is a mashup, first covering Black Sabbath's 1970 classic War Pigs, continuing with Paranoid, and ending with a more subtle addition of riffs from Rage Against The Machine's Killing The Name. It is highly energetic, rhythmic, and very catchy.
The Big Push - English Man In New York
The song is an acoustic cover of Sting's 1987 hit from his second solo album, Nothing Like The Sun. I think it's excellent :)
As a bonus, one of the newer recordings is a mashup of Iggy Pop's classic 'Passenger' and MGMT's pop hit 'Kids.'
The Big Push - Passenger / Kids
That's all for today, thank you for your attention.
This is my 85th post for #threetunetuesday, which @ablaze started.
I hope what I'm sharing is enjoyable for others, too, because then it makes sense.
