We had a few rainy days, which is a blessing in every sense of the word for both human and nature, so we have the condition to recharge our batteries (those who are not in the fortunate situation to have air conditioning) and continue our summer journey.
Nature needs the water as well. Recent years' temperatures have done a lot of damage but this year it feels like summer is not so terrible temperature wise. We had a couple of weeks or scorching hot, temperatures over 35C each day, but that was over and what came after was quite nice.
When I took these photos, it was crazy hot outside and when I stepped in the gallery and saw the green canvases, with so much green and fresh water creeks, I wished I could have that in my life, for real. It still gives me that feeling and I hope you feel the same.
It was a solo exhibition of Eduárd Csupán, a very talented artist, who knows how to capture the attention and interest of the visitor.
Autumn at Sebes
This was a lovely autumn landscape, with both dry vegetation and golden leaves, very realistic by the way. Something I'm always paying attention to, besides the canvas is the frame, which is an important part of the artwork. Just as important as the painting I'd say. It can make the painting more enjoyable and valuable, or it can ruin it completely. I've seen both, trust me and sometimes it's frustrating to see the bad choice someone made. But not here. This medium brown frame is really wonderful.
Roots are often the protagonists of paintings and have a deep meaning. I liked the colors chosen by the artist and although roots would not be my first choice, when picking a painting for my wall, I'd be honored to have this one.
This is more classic, this is how roots are usually featured.
More roots, differently painted and this is my kind of style. Green has a lot to do with my decision here. I love this one. In my opinion it can very well be a cover of an adventure book or a movie poster as well, but would have a better place in my living room, if it would be big enough.
What makes these paintings so valuable in my eyes is hot realistic they are. Looking at the one above, it's almost like you could step in the frame and see those roots at the bottom on the hillside.

As you can see, the paintings were not the usual size, all of them were big by any standard and was wondering how much influence size has on sales. Only a selected few can afford to own such an artwork but I understand the reason why the artist chose this size. The amount of details that went into each painting was amazing, so resizing to a smaller one would have resulted in losing quality.
Maybe now you see what I mean. My next thought was how much it takes to finish a painting of that size and I'd really love to get an answer to that question. I know the first thing you would say is "it depends" but still.
I loved them and honestly, it's not every day you see an exhibition with so many paintings of such size. I've seen plenty is the major galleries, like the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and Mauritshuis in Amsterdam, but not much here. I suppose when you paint to sustain yourself, you need to adapt.
