For the past few years, I have been using a Bamboo Brush instead of a regular plastic brush for brushing my teeth. I was earlier using the regular tooth brush, but then later found this as an option available in the market, and then decided, why not make this switch?
One of the biggest advantages of making this move is that we become more cautious about preventing microplastics from getting into our mouths. I would like to be very careful in saying that we don't have to throw our existing plastic brushes immediately into the garbage and go for a bamboo brush. That also unnecessarily creates plastic waste. We can continue to use the exiting plastic brush and when there is a time when we have to change our brush, we can pick the option of choosing a Bamboo brush. In some cases, based on where you buy the product, the cost can be slightly on the higher side, but I would like to say that it is worth the investment, and for the safe environment, there is no harm is getting something that is less harmful.
Some brushes have only the handle part in wood. The brushes will still continue to be in nylon or plastics in many cases which is okay. I would say that changing partially or fully is not a big deal. The change itself is the most important thing. This way we don't have to worry about a tooth brush getting into the nose of a sea turtle. This is a small change that anyone can make. Give it a try.
