How to Go From @splinterlands Player to DeFi Native in 4 Steps With LeoDEX

in #sptyesterday

I have been playing @splinterlands since the very beginning and I invested in the game months before there was even gameplay. At the time I had faith in it because it was the perfect type of game to be implemented on a blockchain. I have been experiencing the 3 second feeless transactions since July of 2017. For the first few years, every gameplay move was recorded on the blockchain. You can use a block explorer to find the old data. This end up being costly during the mass onboarding of previous bull market that took us above half a million Monthly Active Users. We have a long way to get back to those numbers.

Investors Are Preparing for End of Presale

Some may think of the Presale as a moderate success when they look at these numbers. What they don't realize is the fact that there are many Whales who burned $SPS specifically for the Presale that have not made it into the Leaderboard where there are some incredible Rewards for those who make it to the top.

Since most investors are joining after a harsh bear market and since Packs are not about sell out just yet, it would make sense for them to wait till the last moment to secure themselves a position among the biggest investors of Conclave Arcana. Even those who don't make it to the Leaderboard Prizes have other very valuable Prizes to enjoy.

Do Not Forget The Promo Cards

Promo Cards have historically been some of the best Cards in the game. Getting some of these can go a long way to help with gameplay when the meta change and Chaos Legion gets removed from Modern Rulesets.

Easy signup and onboarding is available. Users can even login with their E-mail. We did not have these features when the game first came out. Buying CREDITS is easy with most fiat or cryptocurrency. Onboarding has been solved for some time now. There are some parts of the New Player Experience left to be further improved. We need to make sure that players are getting the best introduction to the game where they easily become familiar with the core aspects of the game.

Only 9 cryptocurrencies are supported at the moment. It should not be too difficult to add more if necessary. I think @splinterlands do not want to handle too many different cryptocurrencies. It should not be that difficult to find at least 1 of 9 from any CEX or DEX users are familiar with.

How to Spend Your Earnings

One of the primary things that separate Web 3 from Web 2 is the users have the ability to trade the assets they own. Could you even say that something is "yours" if you cannot sell or gift it as you wish? @splinterlands and other games like it can be a gateway to DeFi. I will demonstrate how. For the purpose of this tutorial, I will consider the reader has @keychain and some basic familiarity with cryptocurrency wallets. If this is not the case, there are plenty of articles and videos to support a newcomer to gain basic familiarity in 30 minutes. It is best to spend another hour and spend $20 - $50 playing with what blockchains have to offer.

Use DSwap or HIVE-Engine

Both of these along with Tribaldex tap into the same liquidity in different ways. They are can be treated as 3 different front ends to interact with the same assets. The differences are in the added/missing features among each of them. The swaps themselves are easy to navigate. Other features may take a little bit of exploration to fully understand. Those who are already familiar with DeFi should find themselves at home (along with an added convenience of feeless 3 second transactions).

What you are seeing is a swap I made today. Any assets you have from @splinterlands can be easily swapped for any other assets on HIVE-Engine. Be careful regarding the available liquidity and the potential slippage. Dieselpools work on dedicated pools created for each asset pair. Make your selections based on you needs.

There are many projects making it easy to spend $HIVE and $HBD that have proven very effective. @jthomasewsky and his friends have a working NFC based debit card + ring and @distriator gives upto 20% discounts when paying withe $HBD at accepted merchants. If you seek more DeFi that is in less of a silo, we have just the right answer thanks from @leofinance team.

Use LeoDEX for 3 DEXs + Rango

I had to single out Rango because it connects many CEX and DEX ecosystems together. LeoDEX allows users to swap to and from most major cryptocurrencies in 1 or 2 swaps. All you need to do is connect your wallets. Multiple wallets and changing the receiver address are 2 of the advance features on LeoDEX that is missing from most UIs I have ever seen.

Send Your $LEO to Arbitrum

In order to access a massive world of DeFi with your @splinterlands earnings, first the asset must be swapped for $LEO. This will take a few seconds. Then another few seconds must be spent on the following page: https://wleo.io/leo-arbitrum

Connect Your Wallet to LeoDEX

Out of all the supported wallets, Ctrl Wallet seems to provide the best user experience. Ctrl is not making any extra efforts to protect your privacy. The best low tech, secure universal solution is a Keystore which is just an encrypted text file withe the private keys.

One of the extra fancy feature of LeoDEX is the price chart along with the added description on the Token. Users do not have to trade blindly or visit other websites to figure out what each project is about. The amazing thing with a great UI/UX is that the users may not have a clue about the DEX infrastructure they are using. The may know nothing about

  • $RUNE
  • $CACAO
  • $FLIP

A Note to The Developers

Some feedback I can offer is having a link to immediately buy the asset user is looking at. Having to go back to Swap page and manually select the Token is not a lot of work. Yet the best impressions come from these tiny things coming together to make users feel that DeFi is easy in the hands of INLEO team.

I have noticed that I cannot use the full balance for the trade. The "MAX" button selects a lower amount than the maximum available balance. Is this because anything more would not give me above 15.22 RUNE? Having a short educational label can help to eliminate any potential confusion.

Short Recap on Longest Route

  1. Transfer assets from @splinterlands to HIVE-Engine (1 transaction - feeless).
  2. Swap to $LEO. (1 transaction - feeless).
  3. Bridge to Arbitrum (1 transaction - small fee).
  4. Swap to whichever asset desired on LeoDEX (Upto 2 transactions - Small DEX fee + variable network fee).

Above is the worst possible experience one could have in the process of getting their @splinterlands earnings into almost any major blockchain or cryptocurrency. These funds can be spent or used in any way with full self custody.

Happy Trading! Happy Investing!

Nice post, also love the promo card. Exciting week when the pre-sales ends, whales jockeying for the top 6 position.

One important thing to keep in mind is that we have not seen any serious marketing towards those who are outside of HIVE. Most of what we are seeing comes from the existing playerbase of less than 5,000 players.
