RE: Hive Power Up Month Challenge - June 2026 Winners List

Hahaha...the only people that think that backups and redundancy are not important are those who haven't lost critical things from something going horribly awry.

Yes, perhaps, but it's all just backups and redundancy in one form or another. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It is very likely that any person who has used their own desktop or mobile device for a few months has already experienced some sort of data loss, for which they wished they had copies somewhere of their (most) important files. 🧘‍♂️🤓

That's why I regularly clone the SSDs that run my Arch/Artix Linux installations, so I don't lose anything important. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I hope that such backups don't quickly tire out the lifetime of your (extra) SSDs which have limited write cycles! 🤗

If only HDDs can last long in the jungle! 😅

Honestly, this new generation of NVMe SSDs have a very long lifespan. The cloning is only one write pass each time, so it really doesn't degrade them very much. I use each SSD, with its Arch/Artix installation, for months at a time, then I swap for another, and clone the last one. I also do clone the SSD that I'm currently using, when I make notable changes to the system in some way. Also HHDs do survive her just fine, but it became increasingly difficult to find new laptops that supported HHDs. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I was just thinking about the average SSD when I was typing my previous comment !INDEED. 😅

I think you mean that HDDs would work just fine in your local jungle community if working continuously, just like with most electronics in your area. 🤓

Pretty much any SSD in a laptop now will last for years with strong use..

Yes, and I keep them, and all my SSDs, inside two ziplock bags, and also wrapped in plastic and inside smaller sealed plastic bags. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I wonder if you have also used dessicants for added protection against moisture inside those sealed plastic bags where you put your HDDs and other electronics. 😅

There is a treasure chest of bitcoin sats hidden in Wusang: Isle of Blaq. Happy treasure hunting! 😃 Read about Hivebits (HBIT) or read the story of Wusang: Isle of Blaq.

I've never had enough to actually use, so I rely on multiple layers of well-sealed bags, which has thankfully worked well for many years now. 😁🙏💚✨🤙
