Over the years I have travelled to nearly every state in the United States. There are a few I have missed and hope to make it to those eventually. One on that list is North Dakota. Not long ago I heard the state mentioned in a post here on Hive that made me realize that I have a nice silver commemorative round featuring the state. It's one I picked up somewhere in Arizona, if I recall correctly. So I decided to share it with you all today and talk about the post as well.
This North Dakota commemorative round was produced by The Franklin Mint in 1973 as a celebration of the bicentennial of the United States, that happened in 1976. They produced one for each state in the union, and I have been lucky enough to pick up a few over the years. I shared the Idaho one sometime back, but here is the North Dakota.
About the round:
from numista.com
Isn't that pretty? These silver commemoratives were made in sterling silver (92.5% silver) just like all of the coins and rounds produced by The Franklin Mint over the years. Sadly, they no longer produce any precious metal products. The total silver value at silver prices today is about $36, but these sell at much higher prices due to rarity. They usually go for $50 or more these days.
This one is a keeper though and won't be leaving my stack any time soon!
Recently a proposal was submitted by @wrestorgonline for a couple of Hive related events in North Dakota. It only recently came to my attention. To be completely honest, at first I didn't pay much attention to it as I'm not a big wrestling fan. I think the last time I really watched wrestling was as a kid in the days of Hulk Hogan and André the Giant. Just by mentioning those two names together you can tell I'm no longer a youngster.
But this past weekend I decided to take a good look at read over the proposal detail. I was impressed at the amount of work and detail that has been placed in the in the submission. Both of the events will take place in Williston, North Dakota, which is a booming area due to oil production and has a population of around 30,000. Here is a screenshot from the proposal of the two events, worded far better than I would be able to do.
Both events not only look to be a great way to introduce people to Hive, but to get them onboarded as well. What impressed me the most was that way they have broken down their funds request with complete transparency. Any unused funds or funds earned from concessions will be returned to the DHF.
With most proposals you never see where the funds are to be allocated or even ever provide proof of where they have gone. It's refreshing to see a fantastic proposal like this one that I believe will help to grow Hive and a good use of DHF funds. Below is a link to the proposal, please take some time to check it out. They are still about 4 million votes shy of reaching the return proposal, so much more support is needed.
Feel free to share you thought or impressions, I think it's a cool idea and have already supported it.
That will wrap up my post for today, and I hope you enjoyed seeing that pretty North Dakota commemorative silver. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you so much for all of your support. It is truly appreciated! Have a great week everyone!
