Guyabano Leaves Herbal Tea

I'm feeling a bit under the weather with a bit of a sore throat. But instead of taking medications, I just picked a few guyabano leaves from our small backyard. Guyabano or annona muricata is a tree known for its delicious fruits. But its leaves are also used for medicinal purposes. According to a dissertation from Cebu Doctor's University in 2015, guyabano leaves are known to have anticancer and antimicrobial properties. So to treat my sore throat and looming cough, I grabbed a handful of guyabano leaves from our small backyard tree.

I removed the stems and cleaned the leaves with running water. I also soaked it for a few minutes, rinsed, and filled the pot with water.

I then placed it into the stove, boiled it for a couple of minutes, simmered it, then allowed it to cool off for a while.

And there you have it. I now have a healthy herbal tea to sip while doing this post. I occasionally drink this concoction to boost my immune system. For me, the guyabano's taste is not too strong and it's easy to get used to than other types of herbal leaves.

I've been a long time fan of natural remedies when it comes to minor illnesses. Asian countries like the Philippines are thriving with these potent herbal medicines that few people pay attention to in this day and age. I hope more people would be aware of these God-given blessings that are just lying around everywhere for free.

Hi @sudeon

Interesting tea, with many properties and very easy to make. Thanks for sharing the information.

However, I will make some observations to your post:

  • First of all, I invite you to read our community rules. There you will see that it is essential that users appear in photos (their face), making their amazing drinks, and in your post we do not see that.

  • On the other hand, it is important to always indicate the exact quantities of ingredients, including water, and we do not see that in your post either.

Keep this suggestion in mind for future posts.

Cheers!

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind for future posts. 😊

I've never heard about Guyabano tea before thank you for the info.

Bro, we need to drink more of this.

Why is it that doctors will never prescribe natural remedies!

Big pharma wants our money for every little pain that we feel.
