Curious About What I Do With AI?

AI has been a controversial subject in some areas of the Hive community. There are some who don’t want it used at all. Others are okay with using it but don’t generate your content with it.

AI is not just a disruptive technology, it’s fast become a paradigm shift on the scale of the one we saw when computers started appearing in homes and then the World Wide Web came out.

It changed how we work, live and communicate.

My Workflow

If you follow my work, you’ve seen the daily images I create and share along with the quote to represent the image. I call them the “Daily Echo”. Are you curious about them and how I create them?

I don’t normally talk much about my workflow, but I think the Creative Work Hour (CWH) and DreemPort collaboration this month is a good time for me to draw the curtain back a bit. I use AI extensively every single day. The post I’m preparing will discuss how I use it.

Content Should Be Part of You

I believe a content creator needs to only publish content they have created. I don’t believe anyone should publish AI generated content as their own. At the most basic, doing so removes authenticity from your work. Not to mention it’s not your work. Just to be clear, I’m referring to generative text.

I was a bit undecided if I was going to do this topic or not until this past week. I was on an audio call listening to people talking about AI. To be honest, the person billed as an “expert” was very thin on knowledge she claimed to have.

Her efforts to normalize using AI-generated content also irritated me. She was bad enough, it was another guy who really ticked me off. He was bragging about having an AI tool generate an article. When he read through the article, the AI had said things that he would never have.

He decided that it sounded brilliant, so he published it to LinkedIN without editing. The post got a ton of engagement and some business inquiries. In his mind his decision was brilliant. To me, it was dishonest and amounted to spam.

Make Conscious Choices About AI

But, the flipside of hearing all that hot air getting tossed around, I decided to talk about what I do. I think it’s important to learn AI and what it can do. It’s even more important to make some serious decisions on what limits you’ll place on using it.

How important is it to you that your creative work is you?

I have, and continue to explore, the question with my use of AI.

I’m a lifelong learner. I’m self-taught on most of my creative-self. To me, new technology is something to at least experience and try out before deciding if it’s good or bad.

I’m not big on charts, but I do like creating images. There will be images created for the post. As for the rest of it, stay tuned.

Shadowspub writes on various subjects as she pursues her passion for learning. She also writes on other platforms and enjoys creating books you use, like journals, notebooks, colouring books, etc. Her Nicheless Narrative podcast airs on Thursdays each week.

NOTE: unless otherwise stated, all images are the author’s. AI generated images were in Midjourney, for which I hold a licence to use the images commercially.

Fantastic subject, and one close to my heart too. Very excited to see your inputs on this. For what it's worth I am completely in the camp of telling very clearly how the content was created. Trying to do it any other way is just like using some part of someone else's work. And I don't see why there is this reticence to declare one's tools, unless it is to hide (or ignorance) We have already seen in photography where people have to mention whether a filter has been used or not, or there was post production done. Anyways waiting for your post to know better.

As an aside do we have any community for AI art?

I think there are one or two communities, mostly still trying to make a name for themselves

I will check into that. Thank you . Cheers

Technology is being created to make life easier. What might be not so good is if it makes people lazy and unable to think

I would also love to create images using AI and I agree with you that it's shouldn't be used to generate posts.

I would love to follow up on your posts in order to learn better.

Fabulous image! It's incredible what people can do with word prompts these days... and how one can spend hours crafting an AI image with subtle tweaks of words and phrases. It truly is a digital art form! I can never understand people using AI to generate text though, and then publishing it shamelessly as their work. I see too much of it sadly. Looking forward to your final publication! It will be great to get some insights into your work and process.
