Whether in oral or written form, the story of Little Red Riding Hood has remained relevant throughout the decades, since beyond being a classic tale, generations of people choose to prefer it as the first story they present to their children when they are young.
In my case, I bought a picture book with the story written by Charles Perrault to get my one-year-old daughter interested in reading. As I flipped through the pages, I began to remember the first time I heard about this story. I was five years old and starting school. Teacher María read it in the classroom, and then we performed a dramatization.
The story introduces us to a little girl who lived with her mother and crosses a forest to get to her grandmother's house carrying a basket of food. On the way she encounters a cunning wolf who, upon learning of the girl's mission, gets in the way of her plans.
From this simple storyline several messages for children emerge, one of them being not to trust strangers. Although my little Alma cannot read yet, she is already able to identify figures, of course, for the purposes of her understanding, she is the little girl Little Red Riding Hood.
The story is also presented as an opportunity to explain to children what is good and bad, and the dangers to which they are exposed. The humanization of the wolf and the nature of his actions also teach us a lesson.
When I was reading the story to Alma, while she was looking at the images, she related the characters with their environment, in this way the referents of Little Red Riding Hood and her mother were present, also some animals like dogs, cats and birds, as well as colors, but the father figure is nowhere to be seen, a somewhat uncomfortable situation because the hunter who appears in the story does not have a link with the girl.
There is no alternative but to justify the absence of the father with a fantastic argument. It is ideal to use a story to stimulate children's imagination while teaching them values such as respect and obedience to their parents. I hope that reading books will catch Alma's attention and keep her away from interactive screens because there imagination is usually restricted.

En mi caso, adquirí un libro ilustrado con el relato escrito por Charles Perrault para que mi hija de un año se interese por la lectura. Al pasar las hojas comencé a recordar la primera vez que supe de este cuento, tenía cinco años y empezaba en la escuela, la maestra María lo leyó en el salón y luego realizamos una dramatización.
La historia nos presenta a una niña que vivía con su madre y atraviesa un bosque para llegar a casa de su abuela llevando una cesta de comida. En el camino se encuentra con un astuto lobo que, al enterarse de la misión de la niña, se interpone en sus planes.
A partir de este argumento tan sencillo surgen varios mensajes para los niños, siendo uno de ellos no confiar en desconocidos. Sí bien mi pequeña Alma todavía no sabe leer, ya es capaz de identificar figuras, por supuesto que, para efectos de su comprensión, ella es la niña Caperucita.
El relato también se nos presenta como una oportunidad de ir explicando a los niños lo que es bueno y malo, de los peligros a los que están expuestos. La humanización del lobo y la naturaleza de sus acciones también nos dejan una enseñanza.
Cuando le estuve leyendo el cuento a Alma, mientras ella veía las imágenes, relacionaba a los personajes con su entorno, de esta forma los referentes de Caperucita y su mamá estaban presentes, también algunos animales como perros, gatos y pájaros, además de los colores, pero la figura paterna no se advierte por ninguna parte, situación algo incómoda porque el cazador que aparece en el cuento no tiene un vínculo con la niña.
No queda otra alternativa que justificar la ausencia paterna con un argumento fantástico. Y es que resulta ideal utilizar un cuento para incentivar la imaginacion de los niños en tanto se les enseñan valores como el respeto y la obediencia hacia los padres. Espero que la lectura de libros atrapé a Alma y se aleje de las pantallas interactivas porque allí la imaginación suele estar restringida.
