Paper wasp

in Nature Observer6 days ago

Underneath the green leaves damp with morning dew, I found a paper wasp nesting in its nest, seemingly in the process of building its home. The nest it was building was still small, I noticed only three chambers were fully completed. The others were still under construction. The walls of the nest were a beautiful grayish-brown, blending perfectly with the surrounding environment. To our eyes, the nest might seem fragile. However, it's important to understand that the nest is the beginning of their true life. It's where they so carefully store their hopes.

When I first met the wasp, she was busy with her nest, but when she noticed me, she stopped weaving. She stood upright, staring at me. Her antennae continued to move rapidly. I tried to calm her down and tell her not to be afraid, I won't hurt you. She seemed to understand what I was saying, and her antennae slowly slowed down. A few seconds later, she stopped moving them. She seemed calmer than before.

I love this wasp's color—a beautiful blend of yellow and reddish brown, which in the sunlight makes her body appear even more graceful. Its body shape is also attractive, with a very slender waist. Its wing tips are decorated with a beautiful veined pattern, glistening in the sunlight.
