Elden Ring: Stormveil to Caelid - It Got Worse

in Hive Gaming8 days ago

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

The draw distance in Elden Ring is decent and cleverly done. It shows massive structures like Castles and big Erdtrees from a large distance. It makes you wonder what you will find in that massive structure, how it would look when you get close to it, etc. This is one of the ways this game keeps me motivated despite some frustrating encounters.

After killing the Demigod in the Stormveil castle, you go to a binocular which kinda points you to another castle. It kinda wants me to go there, I assumed.

Remember the jellyfish spirit that I used to defeat 'Godrik the Grafted'? I found their family in the forest, they were chilling together, but then they got a bit excited, so I had to deal with them xd.

The game is gorgeous, though. Makes the grinding a lot more fun. Once, I took a platform near the erdtree that took me underground, and it was a whole new world. I spent some time there, but the enemies there look way tougher and use magic, which I couldn't fully block with my current setup. It would be better to get out of there.

There were plenty more places to explore in the overworld, so I left this place and promised myself to come back here once I get a few more levels and can kill them at least quickly, even if I can't block every attack.

Moving forward, I found a new trader who was selling new things that I had never seen before. I bought the ones which I could afford. I am not using many consumables but all the things which are bought only once time like recipes etc were bought instantly.

The shortbow was interesting and a club that I bought only to realise my sword was much better. I bought some Neutralising Bluses, which help alleviate poison buildup and cure poison. I hate it when some enemies poison me, and it constantly drains my health for a long time.

I have close to 30 in-game hours now. And it still seems like anyone can kill me with a couple of hits lol.

I visited the Roundtable hold and talked to the finger reader. It was a creepy exchange, but I was able to get a new item by spending the 'Remembrance of the Grafted'. Had two choices, a heavy axe which required 34 strength to use (a lot more than I had) and a Grafted Dragon (along with 2000 runes), which required only 16 faith, still more than what I had. 32 Strength level would be so far into the game, so I just went for the Dragon fist.

I am having trouble following the lore. But one thing is clear that the Two Finger is like a God or a semi god? At least some divine entity that communicates through the finger readers. I paid my respect to the weird two fingered God and left. Why just two fingers? Not one, three, four or five or even ten? That's interesting.

On the eastern side of the Limgrave is the 'fire' region, with enemies dealing fire damage and the aesthetics becoming a lot more red. The sky turned bright red here, which looks so dramatic. Like something evil is going to happen to this land.

Even the walls are scorching hot. This area is infested with scavengers and massive crows that exist to send you back to the grave. There are so many enemies that can one-hit kill you in this game, and it can be quite triggering if they don't know how these types of games go.

Everything is rotting in this wasteland. The 'rot' status effect seems way worse than poison. It drains so much of your health and more quickly than the poison effect. And this place is called Caelid. There is a ghost that talks about this rot and calls it the Scarlet Rot.

There are many horrible creatures I have encountered so far, but nothing compares to the amount of damage this pot-headed, fire-breathing machine does. It has a lot of attacks and is such a nightmare to deal with. We are lucky that it is kinda slow or this would be so damn tough to dodge. I tried to kill it but failed multiple times and decided to ignore it completely from now on.

It better not drop an item that I require to progress in the story further lol. Dying is just part of the game anyway, and they don't affect me as much as they used to. I have stopped caring for runes too much as well and focusing more on exploration for now.

Until next time...

Brooo, I gave this game one more try after seeing your journey, but you know what? I gave up again and at the same spot. This is the 3rd/4th time that I tried the game, and I gave up every time with the very first enemy who rides on a giant horse at the beginning. I'm not trying this one forever again.

But your exploration mindset is inspiring, and that's what I like the most. I just can't stand the frustrating fights. You keep it up.

Ah, that guy. You are not supposed to kill it that early. Just skip it until you get powerful and come back at a later stage.

Or do what I did. I bought 100 arrows and shoot him through that cave entrance, he couldn't fit inside the narrow door. I thought it would drop something cool but all he dropped was his weapon that you can't use because you need a lot more strength lol

This game teaches you to skip these optional fights or you lose motivation to play.

Man, I'm getting convinced to try it again. Nooooo.

I really like playing adventure games. The graphics quality of your game is really amazing. I really like it. Such games are very rare on mobile phones.

Yeah, requires very modern hardware and not everyone is on the latest flagship phone so no one bothers making good open world rpg for mobile

Ohh.

I am having trouble following the lore

It was the same for me and kind of still is even though I watched some youtube videos that explained it which made me appreciate it more. Still though, just the main gameplay look and the environment by itself for me was enough to get me hooked quite some time. Like many games, this one is just too long (and hard) for me to ever fully finish it. Maybe some day I might go back to it.

I might have to look at a video explaining the lore once I finish the game.

Brother, you play new games and post them, and later I want to play them. But I don't get time to play due to the pressure of studies.

Nice screenshots by the way 😇

He who does not risk does not win

The way Elden Ring teasing massive structures in the distance, is amazing. I love how you're balancing exploration and grinding. I'm not a fan of Soul games but this one looks worth trying.

Amazing

I guess I'm a little late to this adventure. Open world games get so complex for me that I always end up not understanding anything (Typical me). Still, it's good to read a bit about it.

That part against the jellyfish looks entertaining, I guess you exercised those fingers like never before, you can tell that battle was hectic.

In the end it's always better to leave still what lies still hahahaha.... Even I would leave it on one side after dying several times in the attempt. This is something that at least I end up seeing positively from these types of games, you can opt to take another course and come back later, well although for you I doubt it, I don't think you would have been left wanting to go back there xD.

Your Elden Ring journey is so immersive. I love how you describe the game's world and enemies. Your experience with the pot-headed machine sounds brutal, but it's cool you're shifting focus to exploration. The lore is mysterious, but that Two Finger God concept is intriguing

Wow this is a very interesting game I would like to play it, you are good in advertising interesting games

I would love to be able to play this kind of game at 60 fps, my old laptop is far from that. For now, I'll stick with TFT and games that don't have very high visual quality.
