Water and fire were present in different times in my last weekend getaway; and what a great combination they were.
Revisiting the river where I swam countless times in the Summer, but now in it's Winter form. Perfect for a #monomad challenge, but definitely not for enjoying a swim; one could maybe endure the strong current, but hardly the freezing temperatures, since this is a mountain river, and the water is freaking cold even during Summer!
No doubt the views are stunning with all the extra water, in this time of the year. The water flowing is probably more than double than what we find in the summertime; and all the nature around, with the blooming bushes, just adds to a scenic landscape.
There are so many swimming places and little cascades in this river, that I could probably spend a whole week posting about it! Might not be a bad ideia to go on a photo trip when the weather is warmer, now that I think of it...
But this time, there was little time to enjoy the water show. We wanted to go just a few kilometers higher, to show the family's little one another form of water, one he hadn't seen in nature before...
There wasn't snow in great quantities, but it was enough for a first experience and a snowball battle! Mental note: bring a decent pair of gloves next time! In my defense though, I wasn't expecting to have snow that close to the village... but I was glad for the surprise. Besides, a little cold doesn't hurt anyone, ecpecially when you know what's expecting you when you come back.
Fireplaces are a wonderful sight when you have freezing temperatures outside, aren't they? And the scent of burning wood is one of my favourite childhood memories, and one that instantly transports me back to this place.
Fire and water... a heavenly combination!
