Players that may have reached their ceiling:
1] Trossard. He's 30 now and that is telling on his legs. He's still arguably the most clinical finisher in Arsenal, when he is in the mood. "The mood" is the issue, he doesn't perform at his best all the time. Some say it's because he is a utility player. Generally I think he has hit a plateau in his performances and may need to be offloaded.
2] Odegaard. Man is 26yrs, He was wowing the world last season with his inventive play, such a technically gifted player, who can thread a pass through the eye of the needle to pry open the most resolute defences. He shields the ball so well, and also had another quality – goal scoring.
Since the injury he sustained last season, he has never been thesame, this season has been poor by his standards, ponderous on the ball and lacking incision.
So if you are not creating and are not scoring, what are you useful for as an attacking midfielder? We hsve arracking midfielders like Bruno Fernandes converting chances, just yesterday against Atletic Bilbao, in that Semi-final firstleg, we saw Bruno and that has been Bruno, an all-round attacking midfielder for real. Odegaard is clearly below that now. That needs to be addressed quickly.
3] Martinelli. At just 24 years of age, it is kind of awkward to say that Martinelli has reached his ceiling., but that is the kind of thing we see. Yes, he hss had serious injuries, but watching this guy for the past 4 years, it's hard to see any significant improvement in his game. Same limitations, season after season. Few patches of form here and there, but he has not improved beyond that his achilles heel– lack of good decision making in the final third.
It's difficult to hope for an improved version of Martinelli, especially when you see the exploits in the opposite end done by a certain Bukayo Saka. Even a non-fully fit Saka basically hurts teams more than Marinelli does.
Is someone asking about the Champions league? Well the tie is not done yet. We still have 1 leg to go, and if we do our homework, we should be able to turn the game around in their very own backyard.
