As soon as I landed in Mumbai my phone starts ringing. In Muscat I barely get any calls. But when I land in Mumbai I start getting calls from unknown numbers. These calls are not from my family or friends but these are all spam calls of promotions and offers from companies. Normally I keep my India number switched off in Muscat and only when needed I switch it on. Whenever I switch it on there are some loads of spam messages that start coming. When I am in Mumbai then these calls come at any time of the day and it's so very annoying.
I have also selected the service of not receiving this promotional calls, but yet it keeps coming. I do not know how to get rid of them. The most annoying part is that some of these calls are from the same companies. I keep blocking them and they keep calling from different numbers. I wonder how many calling numbers they have. I also tell the person who calls to note down in their data base that I am not interested and yet they will call up again the next day.
The funny part is that some 15 years back I was making enquiries for a study course in HR and till today I am receiving calls from them asking if I am interested. I guess even after another 20 years they would call. The problem is these call centers work so mindlessly sometimes. They keep following the same data base which is made years back. I get annoyed when someone calls me up in afternoon time when I am taking a nap or on Sundays when the whole world is meant to be on a holiday.
I do not like to be rude with these people, I know it's their job and they have to do it but then sometimes it gets very annoying specially when you are in middle of some important work and then I feel like bashing them up, but I just try to be calm and disconnect and block them. I am sure these people must be also finding it equally frustrating to keep making these calls, because there are many people who do not talk to them properly and also yell at them. One thing I make it a point, even though I do not like it I do not talk rudely with them. I just say not interested and then disconnect. How I wish this madness just stops.
