Hello, fellow cartoonists!!! I'm back here to share a new drawing project. This time, it's a tattoo design in which I partially recreate the image of La Catrina, a popular Mexican character.
As a curious note, I'd like to tell you that this character, whose origin and primary function was focused on satirizing the wealthy class of old, under the ingenious strokes of cartoonist José Guadalupe Posada, was christened La Catrina by Diego Rivera in his work La Calavera Garbancera. The term comes from "catrín," a definition used to describe the elegance and good dress of the classical aristocrats of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The idea of recreating this image stems from a trend I've observed recently among tattoo artists and their clients: tattooing women's faces with Catrina makeup according to the typical symbols of the Day of the Dead tradition. That's how I decided to create a project of this nature, and below I'm sharing a few snapshots, step by step.

Regreso a este espacio para compartir un nuevo proyecto en dibujo. Esta vez se trata de un diseño para tatuaje en el que recreo, parcialmente, la imagen de La Catrina, popular personaje mexicano.
Como nota curiosa les comento que este personaje, cuyo origen y función primera estuvo concentrada en satirizar a la antigua clase pudiente, bajo el Ingenioso trazo del caricaturista José Guadalupe Posada, fue bautizada como La Catrina por Diego Rivera en su obra La Calavera Garbancera. El término proviene de "catrín", una definición que se empleaba para describir la elegancia y el buen vestir en la fachada clásica de los aristócratas de finales del XIX y principios del XX.
La idea de recrear esta imagen surge de una tendencia que he observado, últimamente, dentro de aquellos artistas del tatuaje y sus clientes: tatuarse rostros de mujeres maquilladas de Catrinas según las simbologías típicas de la tradición del día de los Muertos. Fue así que me animé a generar un proyecto de tal índole y a continuación se los comparto, paso a paso en algunas instantáneas.
Espero que este proyecto les resulte interesante y que me dejen sus criterios al respecto.
